Well, Coach Pat has laid down the need to win and he is either very confident or has just put pressure on players, Staff, and himself, I'll go with the former. So far in every important game last year Pitt Players let themselves down in Iowa, UNC, Miami, & ND and were plain out not ready for Navy! The same can be said at OKSU & UNC again. However, Beating Johnson twice, and Beamer last year was good show and PSU this year. Pitt Players need to execute on Thursday better than before and are up against a Top Coach that loves Trick Plays. Pitt still controls its destiny if they can beat VT, Miami, and Duke. Clemson is the toughest of them all and Cuse won't be easy games either? We shall see!

“Yeah, I would say so,” he said. “Based on how things look. I think every ACC game is a must win as we go on, as far as what you want to do. You're a 5-2 football team and each one of these games is important.”Coastal rivals Pitt (5-2, 2-1), No. 21 North Carolina (6-2, 4-1) and No. 25 Virginia Tech (5-2, 3-1) are even in the loss column. Pitt would lose a tiebreaker with North Carolina, based on its 37-36 loss to the Tar Heels on Sept. 24...................“It will be a great opportunity,” he said of the Virginia Tech game. “I told our kids, it's right there for you, the pursuit and what you want is right there for you. It's there for the taking. Everything you wanted to do at the beginning of the season is sitting right in front of you on this Thursday night.
“It's significant, but it's no more significant than last week's game. But it's important. It's in Heinz Field, it's our home, we expect, rain or shine, for the Panther Nation to come out and support us.”

It's a must win because these are the types of games a good team wins at home. We are not yet to the point where we beat teams like Clemson anywhere, or beat good teams on the road, but to show the progress we all want to see, we have to beat our peers at home. Pitt's realistic goal should be to finish the season ranked, likely somewhere between 16-25. That would be a very successful season in Narduzzi's second year, and a clear step forward. Win this game, and then you can think about beating Miami on the road. If we lose this game, we're likely looking at a pedestrian 7 win season, which is pretty much our median since Walt Harris pulled us out of the depths.

We win our home games 3 to go

Duke Syracuse VT

Road games Clemson no dice

Miami maybe

8-4 worst case
9-3 best case

Hail to Pitt

I think it is great that we have a coach that has the balls to say a regular season game is a "must win." Hopefully he has them ready to roll and they do exactly that--WIN! Hail to Pitt!
