Narduzzi sending a big message to sanders

Sanders said something a few weeks ago about it being a tough decision he has to make. What decision? He made it already, right? This is why verbal commitments are such a joke. Just let the kids sign a letter of intent when they are ready. There was a long post on this PSU board about his quote and many PSU fans feel like he's going to flip.

For Sanders, its simple. Go to PSU and split carries with Barkley for 2 years in the hopes he goes to the NFL early or go to Pitt and start from Day 1. Barkley is better than Ollison/James/Hall. Does he like to play or sit? How important is attendance to his NFL future? Will whiteouts help get him to the NFl if he's not playing?

It has to be very difficult for a young person to make this kind of decision. Most of us here have the benefit of experience and the wisdom that comes with knowing that cult living is rewarding for the cult leaders and not so much for the followers.
But young people don't have our perspective or knowledge of true history Hell, most young people in Japan have no idea what happened there in August of 1945!. Admittedly, not everyone from Penn State falls into that category....but so many do and the overwhelming sense is that PSU is more important than them as indivuduals....THAT IS NOT what the college expeience should be IMO. That type of decision should wait until after college for most people....having it thrust on you before you are wise enough to decide is dangerous and our society has not benefitted from that mentality except in rare instances (e.g.. The Marines).
I wish the best for every kid...wherever they go, but we all know that youth brings challenges and understanding the difference between someone who wants what is best for you from someone who wants what is best for them while saying the opposite is quite difficult.

Oh yes. Very difficult. Should I go to PSU and ride the bench behind a true sophomore or go to Pitt and start? Do I like to play football or be a part of a "great atmosphere" sitting on the bench. Such a difficult decision.

Its his choice, play in front of 107K fans , OR put 7 million dollars in the bank, your 1st NFL contract...

You mean 96,000 fans, right?

I read an article and he said that he wants to be loyal to his decision but it is difficult...meaning, he wants to flip but worries about hard feelings.

What it means is that he is not 100% comfortable with his verbal.

Hard feelings? Why would he be worried about that, just sayin.

franklinman I agree with your statement, except for the 107k fans. please change that to around 80k for a more realistic representation of their attendance. It worked for Shady, playing in front of 40-60 K fans,No whiteouts, but a big payday after leaving Pitt.

I dont think Pitt or PSU has a ton to do with his NFL future. He can sit behind Barkley for 2 years then have a great junior year and then go to the NFL. Its more to do with enjoying his college football career. Would he rather start in front of 45K fans or sit the bench the first few years with 85K in the crowd?

Shady had no problem playing in front of 45k fans.and playing early.

You can think of plenty examples where a school already has young, established players and is still able to pull 5* talent at the same position, and that talent goes on to an NFL payday. Look at Alabama:
2013 - Eddie Lacy - 2nd round
2012 - Trent Richardson - 1st round (#3 overall)
2011 - Mark Ingram - 1st round

Sanders may pick Pitt, and more power to him. I understand the desire to stay at home. There is a more attractive depth chart. I've lived here all my life--I love this city. I get the pull.

But to say it's an easy decision simply because PSU has Barkley, and he'd 'ride the bench', is simply flawed logic. Sanders isn't coming to PSU to redshirt.

And whether or not Sanders signs, I expect PSU to go just as hard after Swift in 2017.

Running backs at Penn State are bred to be NFL busts. Pitt is the complete opposite. But but ki-jana, but but Curtis Anus, but but the soft diaper wearing guy? Yeah.

Best case scenario, he splits time and gets 50% of the carries. So, is it better to play half the time for 2 years in front of 85K fans in a great atmosphere or play the whole game in front of 45K fans and not a great atmosphere. Does he like to play a lot or not a lot?

Trent Richardson split carries with a heisman winner. Miles Sanders would see plenty of action in PSU's backfield.
You think Sanders immediately supplants Ollison 100% at Pitt? 90%? Come on.
The NFL likes fresh legs anyway.

I think Ollison is mediocre at best. I know a lot of Pitt fans like him but I'm not seeing it yet. If Sanders cant beat him out, then he's not that good and we dont need him.

Does he want to start or split carries? Does he want to be like Trent Richardson and split carries for a few years........albeit for a mediocre program or start from Day 1 like Shady.

Well, we all appreciate your love for Pitt football being here sharing your opinion... but yes... I think almost all of us think if Sanders is truly as good as he looks, he is the #1 back.

Ollison gets carries for sure, especially on short yardage, and the other guys will get in too... I would think if Sanders comes then Hall might transfer

There may be some family pressure not unlike Foster's situation. To be clear I am NOT saying there's $$$ involved like the speculation with Foster and Bama but he's getting some pressure to go to PSU (don't know the reasoning).

The thing is that Pitt has 3 backs who are strong runners, but none of them are the type of runner who makes tacklers miss. None of them have a "juke" move. I don't really know if Sanders does either, but Pitt really needs a guy in the mod of recent Pitt backs Dion Lewis, Ray Graham, and Shady McCoy -- who can make a guy miss and then bring the speed.

Go Pitt.

Well Ollison is by far our best back right now, with James being a nice change of pace option. Our offensive coordinator can't realize that for some reason though. Not a coincidence that Thursday was Ollison's least amount of carries since Iowa, both losses. So if you had any idea at all what's been going on, what makes you think Sanders does not play a lot over Ollison if he comes here and earns it?

Ollison is good but not great, very down on james, hoping hall has a very good spring. Staff seems to think highly of him, injuries to ja and Ibrahim killed his redshirt. Hoping he develops quickly
