As I read Jacey Zembel's article about Mark Gilbert on top of the message board page, one thing became abundantly clear to me. One of Narduzzi's biggest issues moving foward on the recruiting front is securing high end legacy kids. This issue is obviously no fault of Narduzzi, but neglect from the coaching changes. Consider the following quote from Mark Gilbert:
"Growing up, all I knew was Pitt. I went to all my cousin D.Revis games. Watching him at Pitt and finally being offered by them, and having a chance to play there was a special feeling. My family just wants me to do what's best for me."
The Gilberts have Reggie Mitchell who is their cousin, Revis who starred here, and Sean Gilbert and this kid isn't a heavy Pitt lean. Actually, both Zack and Mark Gilbert should be heavy Pitt leans. In my opinion, Narduzzi must work on making legacy kids a priority here. Winning goes a long way, reaching out to legacy players and engaging them will help as well. Anyone agree? Or am I on an island here?
