Proving to be a solid if unspectacular QB. I'll take that for where we are right now, but I still hope for better from him down the stretch as far as placing the ball in better spots for his WRs and putting a bit more touch on some of this passes.

But the thought occurred to me that perhaps we don't appreciate how smoothly NP has been running this offense. The timing of these jet sweep handoffs has to be pretty precise or there are going to be fumbles and broken plays. I can only remember one bad exchange where we lost the ball, which, considering the number of jet sweep handoffs, if absolutely outstanding.

Anyway, congrats to NP (and Coach Canada) for how smoothly Pitt is running the offense and taking care of the ball.

Go Pitt.

He also doesn't make mental mistakes. 2nd flea flicker...no one open, so he tucks and runs for 9 yards. Hard to tell if our passing problems are qb, wr, or both related.

Decent qb, good intermediate passer, accurate most of the time. Zero ability to hit deep ball but oh well. Makes little mistakes as far as ints, which is in under rated skill set, especially with our defense. Hot wife

The decisions on the jet sweep action are his. He does a great job there. I just wish he would scan the field better post snap.

You guys just provided the textbook description of a game-manager type QB. He's not going to make plays that win games for us, but he's not going to make plays that lose games for us either. He runs the offense well, is relatively mistake-free, and is opportunistic running the ball when the situation presents itself. Smart player. Solid but not spectacular.

Still trying to figure out how the political B.S. oozed it's way into this thread. Posters on this college football board need to keep that garbage to themselves.

This is college football not the NFL. He is an above average college quarterback and better than most Pitt has had in recent memory. Just a dick thing to say.

He can make some decent throws, seems to have a grasp of the offense. Makes good decisions. Can't throw a deep ball to save his life and seems to have actually regressed with the ability to go thru progressions. If you are down and need him to make a huge play, hope for a lucky deflection on an underthrown ball because that's the only way you are getting it.

I'd take him over a lot of our past qbs. He is better than tino, stull is debatable, voytik,

Nothing the matter with Peterman at all, not going to get you a conference championship, but I think we know this team isn't ready for that anyway.

It's a little disturbing that he seems to regress in the 2nd half of some games, but I've been really impressed with his decision making when it comes to running the ball.

He is serviceable, and when he's gone we will probably miss him next season.

He is just a little bigger better version of tino sunseri, without the turtle under pressure of tino. Petersen brought us back in the Iowa game last year and has played well at times late in games(marshall this year) Tino rarely did anything late he was horrible under pressure. Basically Peterman is a solid average QB. He can make some plays with his feet but isn't a burner and he isn't consistent on his close and mid range passing, but can be very good at times. He has been consistently bad on deep passes.

He's really not comparable to Tino in any way other than that they both play the same position and both went to Pitt. Very different types of players.

All in all, the only thing that is a bother at times is how he cannot see a wide open receiver and goes to the primary even if that guy is not open.

I would say that they have similar athleticism and both struggle to throw the deep ball. Peterman is a little bigger and has a little stronger arm. Tino wasn't bad at short passes. Like I said Peterman doesn't seem to turtle like tino did.

From an opposing team fan...Nathan Peterman is a good QB...he is steady and smart. Maybe he hasn't hit on the long ball yet but he is still perfectly capable of having it happen. Hope it comes against VT and he bombs them silly. If he is on...your backs will have a big day running the ball and Pitt could be VT's worst nightmare.

He has his strong points!
Its not the long ball so much as lack of consistency. For example in the UNC game Peterman had multiple chances to ice the game in the closing minutes.
Good QB's make some of those throws.

Agree so far, but now Pitt goes up against some of the fastest Defenses these next 3 games, in VT, MIAMI, and CLEMSON. It is these 3 Games I Always thought would be testing Pitt in 2016 and especially OC Canada, QB Nate, OL, and protect him? Quite frankly, I am gaining confidence and think Pitt can beat all 3 including Clemson. If only the Defense will become Average? If Nate is going to get some Big Hits & Big Cheap Shots, it will be in these 3 games plus Cuse! Just a Hunch?

On the other hand, I did not feel PSU, OKSU, UNC, MU, GT, and UVA had that great Defenses either? Nova may have played that the best against Pitt? Just me!

The oline loses 2 very good starters but returns 4 with starting experience including JJS. Bookser and Oneill should be better too.

I wouldn't expect a whole lot of dropoff from this year.
OC Canada having another year to work with his Players under his System will just be better even with a New QB. The Wideouts will be far better and so will Running backs, only the New Tight End may struggle when replacing Orndoff. The Defense should be better too? Just a Hunch!
