CBS does a 30 minute show on 10 or so top NCAA coaches that they air on regular CBS and CBS Sports Network. They re-run it all the time. If you get a chance, check the Sean Miller episode out. Its really really good.

For some reason, I think Miller is almost viewed as a "villain" by some Pitt basketball fans, mostly I guess, because of the way he left but many of those same fans blame our administration at that time of ruining Pitt sports..............so wasn't Miller right to spot a bad situation and bad management?

Here's what I know about Miller. He's one of Pitt's all-time best players and one of the best players in WPIAL history. He's also on track to be a possible Hall of Fame head coach. True, he hasn't been to the Final Four yet and has choked in the NCAA Tournament but the guy is still a really good coach and recruiter. But, since he's not leading Pitt, Pitt fans don't care.

I don't get to watch a lot of Arizona, but in March, they become my 2nd favorite team. I remember Miller's time at Pitt fondly and loved the way he played. By no means I am ever suggesting that Dixon would or should be fired here because that would be absolutely nuts at this point but if the situation ever arose where we were looking for a head coach, a blank check should be mailed to Tucson and I think Miller would strongly consider it. On the show, he noted that his wife was his high school sweetheart and also went to Pitt. He said he was concerned about the move out west and it was tough adjustment at first because they were used to the 4 seasons, etc. Of course, now he says they love it and could never shovel snow again (but what else is he going to say). Just saying, Arizona and southern Arizona specifically is a different country. Its a totally different culture. He may love it. He may not. Personally, I could never live in a place like that. Say what you want about Pittsburgh, there's a lot of places I'd rather live but Arizona is not one of them and yes I've been there........in the winter when it was 75-80 degrees and I was swimming in the hotel pool.

Final points:
Root for Arizona. Coached by a true Pitt guy and their PG is a local WPIAL legend.
Don't say Miller would never coach Pitt. True, he may not, but I believe its possible with someone like Gallagher if he were still here at that time.

From what I've read he's not disliked or hated just because of the way he left. It's because he and his family did everything they could to sandbag and sabotage Pitt for a while after leaving.

If Miller wanted to come to Pitt Id hire him in a NY minute even if I'd have to fire Dixon to get him...my opinion...Dixon has plateaued at Pitt..I don't see him competing with the upper echelon ACC coaches anymore..his recruiting and style don't fit what you need to compete in this league..Va. Is close to us but they recruit better athletes and size...we get Uchebo,Haughton and a project in Nix...nuff said.

From the last cpl years it seems a lot of people share your thoughts. But I can't imaigine Milller coming here. He'd be nuts to leave Arizona.

May have to wait awhile for that scenario to come to reality.!! Htp/Forever!!!

Stranger things have happened...just saying!! Just saying! Htp/Forever!!!

Interesting subject. I like Sean and think he is a very good coach. He played while I was at Pitt....so I have a particular liking for how he played the game. My sense for why people do not like him is for the same reason most here do not like any successful coach...they feel threatened that if you say anything nice about another coach....that it automatically is some sort of attack on Jamie Dixon [or some form of disloyalty]. Most Pitt fans, and particularly Pitt basketball fans, seem to have a general insecurity complex. I also like his little brother Archie, who is also not a bad coach in his own right. Since the Panthers are not going dancing...I guess I am going to have to adopt a couple of teams to follow and root for...and will likely go with teams coached by former Pitt players or coaches. Hail to Pitt!

Good thoughts....a lot of truth in what you say..Htp/Forever!!!

C'mon man. Sean is a great coach, but it's easier at Arizona. Also, while Sean was a good player, he's not close to being an all time great, either at Pitt, or in the WPIAL.

Overrated as a player. NEVER won a game for us.

He's a very good coach, and recruits well. I hope Pitt never hires him. He & his scummy dad sabotaged Pitt locally for several years. Justified it because Evans was a bum.

Why? Just watch the NIT instead! that's what I'll be doing! lol.

The main reason Sean came here was because of coach Cal at the time. John hated Evans and it carried over for a few years. I'm pretty sure it started when Evans hired Sarandera over John. When Sean was a grad ass at Wisky, he made the statement (to the effect of) that Jackson (Whisky coach) forgot more basketball then Evans ever knew. When Sean was here, him and Ralph clashed over a few things and it got unpleasant. Sean is a good coach, especially for point guards. I've known both Sean and Jamie quite well over the years, but, I would rather have Jamie as he is more genuine. With that being said, I wish no ill will toward Sean as he is my second favorite coach.
