Pitt #2

Ohio State is #1 but they remind me a ton of Kentucky from a few years ago. A non-traditional program racking up wins in a mid-major league, which is what B10 soccer is.

This has been a really strange season. They now are ranked #2 in the seedings for the NCAA tournament and would be in line to play at home in the tournament until the Final Four. That won’t change as long as they win their last two matches, Virginia at home and Syracuse on the road. Syracuse won the NCAAs in 2022, but is 1-3-2 in the ACC this year. They also have a 3-4-1 record at home.

They have some great wins and some head scratching losses. They have beaten #3 Georgetown, #6 UNC, #8 Denver and #10 SMU, but lost to unranked California, High Point and Penn.

Ohio State has 3 Big Ten matches left, including on the road against a ranked Maryland team. And, they also have the Big Ten tournament. They played a pitifully weak non-conference schedule. Think PSU football non-conference schedule but even easier.

I wouldn’t normally think a Pitt team with 3 losses to unranked teams would be #2 nationally, but tOSU really is the only team with a better record. There is no dominant team this year.

That being the case, why not us to win it all!

I'm not going to dissect OSU's resume but the Big Ten in soccer is like the A10 in volleyball. Its not good. So I cant put them #1 unless they go undefeated like Kentucky did out of the Sun Belt. And back then I said that was a great draw for us because Kentucky couldn't possibly be that good.
