I tried to reason in a post the other day asking what other Power 5 teams are starting as many true/redshirt freshmen at CB as Pitt is. My question has been answered.

And they are 2-5 and the D coordinator got fired.

BINGO!

Playing Freshman is a double edged sword. They will get experience, but they will make lots of mistakes.

It also takes patience for the fanbase (which Pitt fans have very little), and restraint from Pittsburgh sports writers (who are stupid and have even less patience) before writing scathing articles (fat chance).

When Hamlin gets burned a couple of times, you'll hear the same useless tools screaming; "He's overrated!" He sucks too!" "Narduzzi can't coach!"

Count on it...

For the record, Since Hamlin's red shirt has been burned, he needs to play a lot. I believe Watts should as well.

Don't call kids out there busting their butts garbage.

That being said Webb and Lewis are as good as they are going to get and that is not very good. Not sure the younger guys can play better but they should get more time. Especially Hamlin. His red shirt has been burned so let's get him out there.

They were also 2-5 going into today's game. It's a nice touch to call college kids complete garbage. Your douche bag credentials are strong.

I was saying that perhaps Pitt's freshman DBs aren't good enough to start, while the freshmen DBs on other teams are good enough to start.

ND is playing all those freshmen out of necessity-lack of bodies. So are we.

It's not the way you want to do it but it is what it is.

You can see how that happened at Pitt due to all of the coaching turnover but how did that happen at ND who has had high ranked recruiting classes for forever. ND is not doing a good job of managing their roster if they do not have any capable upperclassmen DBs.

Right. This isn't complicated. Again, if Pitt has one true power 5 level cornerback this season they're likely undefeated. The coaches aren't playing less talented or less ready players over younger players. They literally have no material to work with.

Alabama is clearly the #1 team in the country and they have played 16 of their true freshman.

Then those CBs Narduzzi picked (not what he was left with) the last two years must not be any good. So how long do we wait for the talent to get here and him to actually play them or change up the scheme?

I'm asking you. I understood your post to suggest that Pitt has freshman DBs who are better than the upperclassmen playing. Who are they? Do you honestly think Pitt is not putting the best players on the field?
Considering the HC flat out said he is worried about preserving redshirts? Yes, yes I do.

2 years? I'll give you a hint to the source of your mistake, Narduzzi is only in his second season of coaching.

Saying Hamlin, who was injured and unable to play up until this point in the season, is not capable of starting at CB is inaccurate. If healthy, he very likely sees time after PSU showed how susceptible PITT was to big passes. Coleman likely needs another year to really lock in a spot.

Because every situation isn't black and white...Hamlin missed training camp and beginning of the season because of injury.......and debating whether to throw the kid in there with 6 games left and blow his redshirt is a real situation that needs to be hashed out.....

Injuries and kids kicked off the team. Starting senior safety and starting junior corner out for the season. Also Kelly writing off this season and going into future mode. He opened up the competition at every position on the team after the Duke loss. Old news in the college football world.

LOL.

We have a lot more holes in that D than one good corner could fix.

Agree on the lack of personnel.

I think Campbell did a good job while he was in, then got hurt against Va. tech. The only one I can remember, should have been playing long before he did, there is too much trust in webb and maddox.

Except he hasn't been hurt that while time.

I want talking about just Hamlin. There are two years of recruits who weren't paying until injury necessitated it.

Notre Dame earlier Discipline of Players is a Prime Example of how "Off The Field" Problems that get Players Suspended or kicked off the Teams, hurt a Program. Miami had some of this problem too.

Why many here underestimate how Coach Pat Narduzzi & staff has done a remarkable job of changing Pitt Players Attitudes, Work Habits, Film Room Demands, and staying focused on Football not going drinking, or partying, like what happen under Harris, Wannstedt, Graham and Chryst at times?

So far, Coach Pat & Staff has that under control and a sense of what you do off the GridIron and how you Focus on Game Week Prep, is just as important as what you do on the GridIron, and for some that can't understand it or observe it.......Miami and Notre Dame both have had issued on that earlier in the year?????

If you are suspended or licked off the Team and can't play and have to be replaced by younger players having to learn it means not being there is worst because your experience, talent, and skills are worthless?

An injured Player can comeback, but a suspended or kicked of the roster Player are not there and worst and hurts the entire team all season long.

Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi & Staff have done a great job so far on this aspect and playing close games in wins and losses, is only not noticed by lesser Posters that exists mostly on BWI, only stupid can fix stupid, and they choose to stay stupid?

You're right! Scratch the "word"garbage. Put it this was-- they are not very good. B/T/W ND did not start playing most of the freshmen DB's until after the defensive coordinator was fired. As painful as it may be it is time to develop the under classmen-- it can't get any worse.

You can check many Past Headlines about Pitt Players like many at most Programs having trouble with being suspended on issues off the field, in and outside the classrooms, like all Football Programs. Pitt has them too but so far under Coach Pat and I admit it has only been 2 years and 21 games, but he seems to have these Players focused far better than some in the past.

Chryst had to face it too and sent some packing ending some nonsense from being young and dumb and making such mistakes. Pitt did have many coaches over a few years that kept changing systems, rules, and having to adapt to different styles and views.

Yet, Narduzzi even in his first game suspended Boyd if you recall in YSU Game for a DUI last year. Other players have left too that is not unusual when a New Staff takes over.

All Programs have trouble is my point and some really hurt the Coaches & Team when they can't play due to off the field problems and why ND is playing 5 Young DBs, due to problems that happen just before the season, if you recall.

The one thing I admire about Bama's Saban is an article on how he recruits, treats, and expands his own Players Learning. No Coach is immune, but how to keep 100+ Rosters focused on FB, and less off the field problems, but when they do happen, Saban handles it as good as any and still making sure to try to avoid hurting the Team.

You are used to seeing and knowing what an Elite Coach & Elite Program does to stay as an Elite Winning Program & Team, Pitt has been trying to rebuild one since 1980s?
If you have a different view I have no problem with you posting it too.
