ND Starting QB to Portal

Drew Pyne was forced to start because of an injury to sophomore Tyler Buchner.
He is considered a good guy who gave his all, but would not have started next year.
The rumor is that ND is very interested in Hudson Card.
A grad transfer QB will likely start for ND next year, whomever it is.
Devin Leary is said to be very interested, but his injury is an issue.
Buchner (sophmore), Minchey and Steve Angeli (true freshman) will be the other QB's.
C.J. Carr arrives after next year.

Minchey isn't going to be given the keys at a program like ND. Most major programs will have 2 or 3 other guys like Minchey (top 15 4-star types) buried on the depth chart a couple of years before they even compete for the starting job.

Passed on being a Pitt starter to be a Domer back up.
What is funny is Pitt has put 4 QB in NFL since ND has put any. Pickett, Peterman, Savage, Dinucci.
Not sure Pitt can take credit for Dinucci other than giving him his shot but your point is well taken.
If you are a decent QB... why would you NOT go into the portal unless you already have a big NIL deal? Kid can probably get at least $500,000 a year from somebody.
Saying Pitt put Dinucci in the NFL is like saying Pitt put Flacco in the NFL.
Won't Buchner be the presumptive starter going into next year?
Looks like Cade McNamara should have held out for a minute before going to Iowa. He'd be a great fit at ND, and I very much doubt they'll find a better grad transfer QB than that.
Buchner has been hurt too much in both high school and college to pencil him in.
Buchner may be healthy enough to play in the bowl game. Otherwise, true freshman Steven Angeli (about 10 snaps worth of experience) will start that game.
ND will likely get a grad transfer QB to start next year.
