ND still has that attractiveness and tradition to allure students and recruits. And, it is a top-notch academic institution. If my graduate son were to attend the university, I would be proud as a parent and catholic. However, I just wouldn't want my son to play for Brian Kelly. IMO, he is a shmuck. Didn't like him at Cincinnati, and was surprised they hired him at ND. As a coach, he is poor PR for the university, and his public personality certainly is not an asset. He always is placing blame when losing, and is unprofessional in his sideline antics and treatment of assistant coaches. He is constantly yelling at them and blaming them. ND could have done better, as shown with their less than stellar record despite top recruiting every year. But, I could never forgive him for at least being partly responsible for the death of that manager who fell out of the tower. He refused to let him come down after the kid expressed concern about the winds. BTW, what happened with that? How did it go away? It wouldn't have if I were a parent of the kid. These are my opinions, of course, and if Donovan Jeter goes there, good luck to him. He has the right to choose, and should sign with the program that he thinks will make him the happiest. He will give up the 'hometown hero' chance that Aaron Donald, Tony Dorsett and the countless others still hold onto. But, he has had plenty of time to consider his options, and he will live with the one that he will soon choose. We all should hope he makes the right choice for himself.
