Not everyone likes these rankings but it is a primary criteria used for the selection committee.
As of now Pitt has moved up to 52 after the Quad 4 win @ Louisville. Surprisingly moving up a few spots after a win against one of the worst D1 teams. A comment made by the announcers during the game I think is really important to Pitt and that is they have zero bad losses. 8-0 versus quad 3 and 4 teams. This is a must for Pitt's postseason chances due to their stumbles out of the gate and the number of Q3/4 teams remaining on the schedule.

I heard Dan Bonner talking about the NET Rankings and the Quad 4 record you’re referring too toward the end of the game last night and I agree I think it is important that out of the 6 games Pitt has lost none of them are absolutely horrific. I think before the Georgia Tech and Louisville wins the last 5-6 days Pitt’s Net was in the 70-75 range so they have moved up around 20 spots in the Net the last week or so which is great.

Pitt I think at this point while they could definitely use a few more quality wins to help their resume as long as they win the games they are supposed too and don’t have any terrible losses this team right now as we sit here today while I won’t say they are an absolute lock to make the tournament at this point but they are in about as good a shape to get an at large bid now almost 20 games into the season that they could have ever dreamed of when this season started.

The committee doesn't look at your NET rank. They use it to make the Quads. So Pitt being #20 or #70 doesnt matter a great deal other than the higher you are, that means you have some nicr Q1/2 wins. The main criteria are your quad record, SOS, and non-con SOS

They also have 5 road wins, which only 2 other power5 schools plus Houston have right now. A lot of smaller schools have more, but it will help them in addition to the Quad 1 and 2 wins. They may be more safe than we think if they can pick up one more Quad 1 (@UM, @VT, @UNC) and avoid the bad losses.

I dont like the formula for Quad 4. Clemson's loss at South Carolina is a Quad 4. Come on, like there's a big difference between losing to SC on the road or losing to like Stonehill College at home. Pitt could have an off night and lose at FSU, GT, BC, etc.

Pitt moves up another 2 spots in the NET Rankings and is now at 50. Gotta keep it going and take care of business at home against Florida State on Saturday.

Penn St is a first four out and WVU is a last 4 in for all you masochists
