New Athletics Web Site

I just wandered over to the Pitt athletics web site to see what's changed. Trying not to be overly critical, but the new site needs a lot of work. I specifically went to the site to take a look at the football roster. I couldn't find a football roster anywhere. I couldn't even find a football (or basketball) team page. There are plenty of links to donate, purchase tickets, or purchase merchandise. There are many articles about track and field, softball, etc. If you're interested in that stuff, it's great. If you want to navigate to a specific team page, I can't find it.

Not sure who designed this new site, but they need to go back to the drawing board IMO.

dude, it took me 9 and 1/2 seconds. I kid you not..

On the new site: I actually like the filter system on the roster too, you can go by position, #, hometown, height, age.. Even has a picture of them.. I also notice the same function with rosters dating back 10+ years, I don't recall them having this before but I could be wrong..

i'll be honest, this KILLS the rivals system. I like pantherlair but HATE their roster options and you cant filter it out by grade or position either. Honestly, If I have to reference the roster, i'll use the scholarship board, it's easier.. Not sure the connection with yahoo and rivals but they switched over to it and I hate it.

Also the "stats" function is nice on the school website.. easy to reference stats for individuals or teams in past. the stats on this page are ok but very tough if not impossible to find stats from over a year ago..

yeah, I noticed that first too. that's sweet as heck. pantherlair should copy that.. love the easy filter system too.. not sure if its my computer or what but the roster option on pantherlair, I cant filter them. they have the title on top, position, year, # but where you'd normally click the hyperlink to filter it, it doesn't work.

OK - so out of curiosity I hit the new site using Chrome (instead of IE) and found the team and roster links very quickly. Went back to the site via IE...no such links. Figured that I'm finding an older version of the site probably due to some caching issues. Deleted browsing history and cleared cache. Still have the same problem with IE. Not sure what the heck is going on.

not sure cruzer, im the wrong guy to ask. I cant even figure out how to get my laptop to show up on another monitor so im the wrong person to ask. I did the hdmi cable, screen resolution thing and still nothing. screw computers, I want to bring back typewriters, word processors or good old pen and paper..

I use IE and just went to the site and found the football roster within seconds, not sure what is wrong with your IE?

Took me about two seconds to get to the football roster. Immediately saw the "team" page as soon as the site loaded.
 
I love the virtual reality feature. The one showed Maddox successfully defending a pass. I don't understand how those tech guys are able to create such impossible scenarios.

Microsoft did away with IE, and replaced it with Edge. Are you using IE, or just calling Edge, IE?

I'm using IE 11 not Edge. I don't particularly care for Edge so I guess I'll just use Chrome from now on.
 
How interesting it is to see Karlo listed under the Coaching Staff. Who'd a-thunk it?

I think the issue may be with your ad blocker, assuming you are using one. I went to the page (using Firefox) with the ad blocker turned on and it only loaded about 1/10th of the page. The whole bar across the top where you find the individual sports (among other things) was missing. But when I turned the ad blocker off for the page and reloaded it everything seems to have come up.
 
And by the way, how pathetic is the design of your web site if ad blockers think that almost the whole page is filled with ads?

I tried to make a donation to the Football championship fund or whatever it's called, but got an error message. I was using chrome. I had issues before, but was hoping that the change would eliminate the issue for me, but apparently it hasn't.
