I just spoke with Raphael Araujo-Lopes, a junior college receiver who got an offer from Pitt on Monday. He's very interested in Pitt, but here's the kicker:
He is already qualified and is looking for a school for this season. As in, he'll move onto campus this summer and play this fall.
Obviously this is pretty big news.
Pitt is his first offer and not too many colleges seem to be aware of him. The only other school that has shown interest is Tennessee, and a coach from there will be visiting Araujo-Lopes on Thursday (Pitt LB coach Rob Harley will visit him on Wednesday). Araujo-Lopes will take an official visit to Pitt next week, probably at the end of the week. If Tennessee offers, he'll check out Knoxville; if not, he'll go to Pitt.
I'll have an article up shortly.
