Worth noting that because of the way the rankings are structured, with so many schools being tied for spots, a rise or fall of ~5 spots or less is basically “no change.”

feel like it's the same since we're tied with a bunch of others. PSU fell so that's good news.

Surprised TJ is 127 but they did build that new HS

For sure there's a lot of wobble from year to year. Trends can be more telling than any one year snap shot.

Schools that moved ahead of Pitt:
Washington, Maryland, Rutgers

Schools that moved into a tie with Pitt:
Minnesota, George Washington, Virginia Tech

Schools tied with Pitt last year and this year: Syracuse

IMO, Pitt should be in the top 50.

I agree with all of that. I do think that Pitt has a pretty firm ceiling on its ranking under the current methodology just because of the very high cost of in-state tuition. Until that problem is remedied (and I think Pitt has done a ton of good stuff to be creative with financial aid over the past few years), I think there’s only so high Pitt can be in these rankings.

Thats bc its so damn expensive to go to school to Pitt. Its ridiculous IMO compared to other states and their universities

On campus football stadium is a factor for this list. If Pitt would build one they'd move up 10 spots automatically.

Pitt's undergrad ratings are disconnected from its research (top 15) and professional (med & health sciences) school reputations in a way that perhaps no other universities are. It rank, IMO, should really should be in the 40s. But you see that better reflected in its US News undergrad research ranking (#39 among not just national universities, but all colleges and universities). Those opportunities may be way more important than anything else, in STEM fields at least, and there are only a handful of schools that match what Pitt has to offer there with all the research done in the immediate vicinity of campus.

Cost has been a huge priority for Pitt's leadership. However, the lack of state support for a public research universities in PA is a big issue that is largely out of its hands. In out-of-state cost, it is quite competitive. It's alumni giving rate is also below muster compared to peers. It's must keep improving its 6 year grad rate as well.

Rutgers above us? Rutgers above ANYONE? Not solely because of their d-bag football fans, but has anyone or anything of relevance come from Rutgers? Or is this a popular vote and the B1G people do what they do best and flood the system with votes?
