New Verbal

Kohl’s, which runs kicking camps for HS players, has him rated the #9 punter and #51 PK. They like him most for his punting and kickoffs. His punting video from their site is very impressive. A lot of height and pretty much everything went 55 yards or farther. If you figure a kicker’s release point is about 12 yards behind the LOS, that translates to 43 yards or more. Some landed beyond the end line in the end zone. That is 70-plus yards in the air.

We just got one of the nation’s best punters. I know it seems minuscule but with how important special teams are to winning games, this is a huge get. Glad we could keep him in our backyard.

By the way, for those unfamiliar with Kohl’s kicking camp, that’s where the nation’s best special teamers (kickers, punters, and long snappers) train and compete. They have guys in every rank; High School, college, professionally. If they say he’s one of the best, he’s legit.

Here’s some tape on him:

Cameron Guess from Belle Vernon ranked one of the best punters in the nation and is a kickoff man who kicks everything deep into the end zone. Big get for special teams. Anyone know about his FG kicking? Our Kicker will be a Sr next year.

Enjoy your time and welcome to PITT !

Schools in the top 20 mostly never waste ships on kickers or punters, they get them to come regardless, saying that, he is impressive as a punter.

Wow congrats! Honestly this is one thing separates us from top 20 teams is our lack of kicking recruits. Seems every new kicker we get we have to struggle through a few bad years of 30 Yard punts or missed fgs

if this kid can kick 45 ypp I’m happy. Look at his video and he booms punts

If he doesn't whiff on punts on rivalry games, I'll be very happy. Once you get to the level of good punters, there is very little difference between a yard or .1 of a second.

I bet he'll be on scholarship maybe right after Kessman graduates. Nothing wrong with having a stud kicker/punter. Was reading an article today about Rutgers and they have one of the top punters in the nation and he's from Australia. Guess we got the worst of the two haha.
Welcome Cameron to Pitt!

Walk on initially and as soon as the "position" opens up for a scholarship he will get one. Only 1 is given out at a time

Pitt's D hasn't surrendered a lot of long scoring drives this year. But Miami's game-winning drive was aided by an awful punt (and terrible playcalling on the preceeding 3 & out). There were some shanks in the UVA game as well. Having a punter who can consistently flip the field for the D that Narduzzi has built might not make for exciting football, but it could definitely get some more W's.

Good get. As we all well know a good punter and FG kicker or lack of can often be the difference in close games

I follow BVA, couldn’t be happier for Cam. He definitely has the leg. During the playoffs in the cold some of his kickoffs fell short of end zone but during the season he was hitting through the FGs during kickoffs. He does however needs to work on accuracy for FG so I see him most likely to follow the punter/kickoff duties path.

Christodoulou has too many 35 yard punts. He's been good at dropping them inside the 20, but he's below average overall.

A good punter is a weapon when you have a good defense.

Agree he looks good sometimes and real bad others. We need more consistency. As stated with our D a good punter can make it even better.

Punting and kicking is all about consistency. If the punter/kicker doesn't have that, the punter/kicker isn't good at his job.

I know the family and Cam personally. He has played football with my son since midget league. This is a tremendous get for Pitt. Couldn’t be more proud of Cam and happy for his parents.

This is a cool story. I have some connection to BV because I work at one of the votech’s that enrolls BVA students. Glad his hard work paid off.

He is def a good one especially punter, the full ride and needing that for another position concerns me....

Who did WVU land that was better than him? Guess also said Pitt was the school he wanted to attend.

The WVU thing was what I was told by someone close. Not saying who because that's not my place. I'm glad for him. Belle Vernon has always had a great connection with Pitt. Other than Bill Contz and Craig Fayak, just about every P5 quality kid from BV that I can think of has gone to Pitt.

Overall, this is a great job recruiting Western PA. A solid punter/kicker can easily account for an extra win a year.

What is with Pitt recruiting these kickers with bad kicker names? From Blewitt to Guess. Pat McAfee is going to have a field day with this kid if he ends up kicking field goals at some point in his career.
