Sadly there are snobs in England that think Luton shouldn't be allowed to play in the EPL because of Kenilworth. Sadly some of my own kin in Fulham. This club has earned it, Kenilworth I bet has the dumpy charm of a Wrigley or Fenway.

You might want to check out some more videos on it. It’s bad. craven cottage had charm. This is just way beyond charm. This one should be condemned. Have you ever seen those old picks of Stamford Bridge’s shed? It looked like it was held up with toothpicks and was going to fall over at any time. That’s what kenelworth reminds me of. It’s not even single A baseball worthy let alone Premier league. I would be surprised if it had running water and showers that work. While watching videos about it, it brought to mind Aliquippa’s football stadium which I believe just got a refurb. I don’t know what they’re doing to it over the summer. I will be curious to see what improvements are made.

What a dump.

Seems like an awesome place to take in a game. For real. I went to Mainz's old stadium before the new one was built and man was it a dump. Across the street from an Aldi's. I bought tickets from one of those little standalone ticket booths like at HS football stadiums.

Not sure how true the story was, but rumor was the owners had construction equipment on site yesterday waiting for the final whistle to begin. I don't believe they'll be able to upgrade the seating capacity too much but the owners seems to know what they need to do in order to make it EPL ready such as pressing boothing, camera booth's for VAR etc.

That is a terrible photo of stamford. I think most English stadium's were like that in the 70's and 80's. The Cottage always wasn't cozy.

I'll be rooting for Luton next year every game except 2 to stay up.

I’m excited to see what they do. It’s too bad that they have to dump millions into that place now…when there were already plans for a new stadium. It’s like upgrading your kitchen when you know you’re building a new house. The difference of course is you might get that money back out of the sale price. But I’m not sure Luton will do that.

Yea, I dont know how many millions they'd have to put into it but it would seem like a much better idea to move most of their home games to a larger nearby modern stadium and asking kindly if they can save those millions and just play 4-5 home games at Kenilworth Road (against the small clubs).

So Pitt needs an on campus football stadium, but Luton needs to move their games completely out of their home town to someplace else to play.

The closest place would be Watford. Luton and Watford are long standing rivals. There is approximately the same chance that Luton would ever play their home games at Watford as there is Pitt moving their home games to Morgantown. Which is to say, none. The next closest would be Milton Keynes. Looks like it's about 20-25 miles away.

Estimates are that they are going to have to spend £10 million to bring their stadium up to par for next season. Work has already started.

If you believe in promotion/relegation, you should accept stadiums like this as part of that process. If MLS had pro/rel, it should be totally fine if the Riverhounds got promoted and stayed at their 5K stadium. If you expect ALL large modern venues than the American style, non-pro/rel is what you should want.

Agree 100%. All they should have to do is make the changes that enable VAR. This is what they got to the EPL with; this is what they should be allowed to compete in. Let all the fans of the big boys suffer trying to find the visitor’s entrance between two houses. I hate that they have to spend millions on the stadium. In the semis against Sunderland, their stadium looked just fine on TV.

let’s hope the home side gets a new locker room at least. I’m all for a competitive home field advantage.

It’s just to me the place looks like in some videos that it’s one step away from condemned.

Here's another thing, they just got up to the big leagues, the money they are forced to spend upgrading the stadium could instead be used to spend on players to stay in the big leagues.

Luton's new stadium will be ready in a year or 2. Bad comparison. Heinz Field is a fine temporary venue just as Kenilworth would be fine to host the lower teams while bigger games could be played at another stadium within 45 minutes so they dont have to dump millions into something that's going to be ripped down. It would be like if we still had the Field House when the ACC admitted us but the Pete would be done soon. Playing the bigger games in Wheeling would have been a fine compromise.

So the Pitt basketball team, playing home games in WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA is a "fine compromise". :)
