Unfortunately I dont see Capel beating out any P6 teams for players. I dont think Oladapo had another commitable P6 offer. Maybe he did but we got kinda lucky that we were first and the kid wanted to get it over with quick.
Yea, the whole thing is weird. Capel has gone from the reputation of being an elite recruiter to being potentially the worst. Something is wrong.
Could this really signify another commitment is on the horizon?
Could this actually be good news?

Stop. If coaching and recruiting was this easy at this level then anyone would do it. There will be challenges, stop being so negative. We really have no idea what is going on in Capel’s office.
It’s hard to figure out what to make of this cancellation. Hopeful something better on the horizon!
If Champ returns then there is no need for another 6-6 guy that has Hyatt’s skill set. We desperately need a Center and another ball handler. I would like another outside shooter and power forward as well. Those are the top priorities.

What's hard to figure out? Pitt got the one they wanted so Hyatt doesn't have a spot available.

Don’t know about you, but if it were me, I’d not count anyone out until ink is dry on commitment. You don’t cancel a meeting unless the kid was just arrested or something else bad. Everyone should be an option.
Rutgers just missed out on Aundre right out of high school. He wanted to be back near his family and home.
They stopped recruiting Hyatt, whether it be because of him or them. Those aren’t losses they cut their losses when they stopped recruiting him. Not every kid going elsewhere is newsworthy.
Really ! What makes going to Pitt so much better than Rutgers ?
I didn't get the sense we were on him very hard. Just an initial call and a couple tweets noting the contact.

Yea, I know. Pitt shouldn't be able to get any recruit. Stallings went 0-19 and recruits really care about that.
Capel is the coach now and he has to win recruiting battles against programs like Rutgers. Cant win them all I know but have to win enough. No one's asking him to out-recruit Duke and UNC.
My level of posts translates to Head Coach.
I believe designations of Athletic Director, Board of Trustees, Chancellor and All Pitt come between me and the ”ultimate” Lair Hall of Famer.
I have quite the way to go.
