Reeves played in the Ohio North-South All Star game in Massillon last weekend for Divisions 4-7 in Ohio classifications. He was named offensive MVP for the South squad. Stats were 5 catches for 209 yards and 2 TDs. He probably played WR in this game ---- put let's hope he brings that kind of explosiveness to Pitt.

Yeah. I'll take 42 yards per catch. Seriously this kid looks like a man- child already. I think he makes an immediate impact, which you can't say for most freshmen.

I am not sure and it because of my ignorance on Freshmen Tight Ends. I need to hear and learn more from other Posters that have follow Tight Ends even at other Programs. i just recall a Pitt or any other CFB Tight End that did great in his freshmen year?

The problem I am told with Young Tight Ends is they have to learn to play quicker and adapt to:

#1. The Speed of Older & Bigger CFB Players on Defense Is Hard To Adapt!
#2. Learn to Block and 1 to 5 Mistakes can Sack a QB & Disrupt Offensive Plays!
#3. Learn to Run Precise Pass Routes and Catch Tough Balls while being Hit!
#4. Learn to know when to Drop Off to be QB Safety Value when WRs are covered!
#5. Learning all the above takes Game Experience No Matter How much Talent!

I would like to know from others that follow CFB....How many Freshmen Tight Ends have all the Skills in their Game 1 to 5, because that is what Pitt needs in 2017. Clark and Rutgers TE are Older but can they replace Orndoff is my second question too.

I agree, Reeves is a Beast but can he play in the YSU, PSU, OKST and GT Games right away? Any and all thoughts are welcomed and no offense taken on any opinions.

The kid was a great get. He has all the measurables. His offer sheet was great confirming his level of play. He had offers from Alabama, PSU, UM, etc. I was puzzled why OSU didn't offer, but he seems to be a true 4 star. As has been mentioned, he already has a college sized frame and prerequisite athletic ability. Freshman TE's almost always need to improve blocking and strength to block D1 DEs. However, if a red shirt is not in the plan, he looks to be a situational impact player right out of the gate.

The Rutgers transfer at least gives us some experience and blocking ability. The coaches can
scheme running plays with him, and slowly bring in the recruits for passing plays. I doubt that Clarke will be ready immediately, same for Reeves.
The other two recruits..... at least one will go to DE or maybe even OL. We have depth in the fall at TE, but very little experience

Kids is a freak athlete. If he can show he can adapt to the college game fast, he will not redshirt and we will see some mismatches in two TE sets with him and Clark. Both can create a lot of problems in the passing game, just need to show more on the blocking side to really be that dual threat contributor.

He was a man amongst boys in high school. He is probably is not ready to block college DEs but he can catch and should see time on 3rd downs.

If he isn't ready to block college de's, it's not because of a physical issue. The dude is a lean 280 & can run.. I have to think that with a little coaching & effort he'll block just fine.

I see no reason why he couldn't contribute on special teams and as a passing threat from day 1. If Clarke can't get healthy, he will probably be the go to tight end this year.

were going to need him to contribute his first year. clarke is a crapshoot.
So is Browne to be fair. Browne and Clarke are new with this Pitt Team just like Peterman was in 2015. It takes time to adjust, learn from mistakes, and Pitt does not have that time against Penn State, Oklahoma State, and Georgia Tech. For them to learn together against Coaches & Teams almost all back and two of them away games.

Reeves would be adjusting as well not just as 4 Year Transfer like Browne and Clarke but dependent to learn with them as well as adapt as a Freshmen. Replacing the Experience and Smarts of Orndoff that help win Penn State, Clemson, and Georgia Tech is to a Tall Coaching Challenge even at BAMA, USC, PSU and FSU.

I would not mind if Pitt was just replacing the QB or just the TE, but it has to do both. This is a tough challenge by any Coach or Team to meet in 2017.

This is going to be Coach Pat & Staff Toughest Coaching Year in his First Three Games early against PSU, OKST, and GT and last Three Games against Top ACC Coaches & Talent in UNC, VT, and Miami!

It is not just having to see if these New Players can make the plays, but more important not miss opportunities, and make mistakes that can cost early and late games.

I have no clue but is truly up to the Coaches to be better prepared than ever and coach them with little time. I was worried about OC Canada last year and he removed that doubt by his second game. The Defense then kept letting Pitt Down just by 1 to 2 plays, but enough to lose 4 of them, and ruin a 8 to 10 win season by one play.

We shall see?
