Kenpom Pitt 13 OSU 17 MSU 24 UW 30
Torvik Pitt 24 OSU 22 MSU 23 UW 35
Only remaining games tougher than this based on current ratings are UNC and Duke. Clemson is next toughest (37,45).
Decent scouting report. I would argue that Blackwell and Tonje are both go-tos so far, but Tonje is getting most of the attention because of his 41-burger against Arizona (and I would argue the bigger factor in Arizona's failings against Wisconsin was sending Tonje to the line 22 times where he hit 21 of them). UW did not get to the line much in yesterday's UCF tilt for the first time all season, which didn't seem to matter, but was a tendency breaker. Wisconsin is a VERY good FT shooting team, so Pitt (or any team) would do well to limit FT opportunities.Lowe and Leggett cannot get into foul trouble next game. These 2 will be matched up against Blackwell and Tonje. Tonje is their go to scorer, Leggett needs to shut his ass down. Tonje can turn into a turnover machine just like Carter. Leggett needs to be in his face all game long just like with Carter. Frustrate him with shut down defense.
All Klesmit does for Wisconsin is shoot 3s. He uses a little stepback to open up his 3 point shot, but he is slow with the dribble drive. All Cummings and Dunn need to do is not let him get off clean 3 point looks and dont get baited into the stepback which is what he wants to do. That's their job, no clean looks from 3. Let him drive it if needed, he's slow. About 46% of Wisconsin's shots are 3s. That is what they are going to do, launch 3s all game long. We need to force them into the midrange where they shoot 34% for the season. Blackwell stinks in the midrange, let him drive it and protect the interior if but dont give up clean 3 point looks. Blackwell is shooting 30% from the midrange this year and shot 29% from the midrange last year. He can't make these shots, especially off the bounce in the midrange.
Arizona failed to guard the perimeter against Wisconsin and they gave up 12 three pointers at 45% shooting from 3. That absolutely cannot happen against our defense. Our defensive pressure needs extended.
UT Rio Grande scored 84 on Wisconsin and Montana State scored 67 against them. We are going to score against this team, Our defense will win us this game if it comes to play at a high level Sunday.
Is there as much pressure on Gard as the CBSSN studio crew let on yesterday?Decent scouting report. Wisconsin is definitely suspect on defense so far. Especially in that UTRGV game, they were baffled and had to bench the two bigs in order to match up better. UW should match up better against more traditionally-built rosters and offenses that use bigs "normally". Crowl, the 5-man, makes the offense better when he's out there (leads the team in assists), but has had trouble with defense and fouls.
I found it surprising, tooIs there as much pressure on Gard as the CBSSN studio crew let on yesterday?
I found that a bit surprising that his seat is as warm as they portrayed it to be.
Just dropping by afterwards to say I enjoyed lurking the last couple of days - you seem to have a more level-headed and knowledgeable group of posters than most fanbases. I am sorry about Dunn - that was a big deal for the outcome of this game.
If you are a fan of analytics, a partner and I do a statistics-based write-up on Buckyville after every Badger game - it's from a Badger perspective, of course, but if you're interested in digging a little below the surface, here it is: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/buckyville/viewtopic.php?p=2459099#p2459099
Good luck the rest of the season - I hope Dunn is ok, and go beat Brutus!
