Sr - Luther (4/5)
Sr - Frame (2/3)
Jr - Ellison (2/3)
Jr - Chukwuka (4/5)
Jr - Kingsby (1)
So - Carr (1/2)
So - Davis 2/3)
So - Brown (4/5)
So - Stevenson (2/3)
So - Stewart (2/3)
So - Illegomah (4/5)
So - George (4)
Fr - Golden (4/5)

The class balance needs to be adjusted. You cannot have 7 So. in one class.

Good look at it, though I would say Stephenson is a 3/4.

I would guess there is some attrition, it is just the natural state of college basketball, so i would expect we would have another freshman to be on the roster assuming Luther is granted the hardship

I know some will complain but I like what we are adding next year so far. I think Ellison will be a big addition given his experience, Kingsby also. Getting Luther back for a 5th year could be crucial to us having decent success.

I figure we lose at least one of the sophomores given the attrition we experienced last year. Would be nice to have room for one legit big but at least we are adding some size with Golden.

I really, really want hope for a breakout next season. But that team will be picked last in the ACC. Easily. Now, maybe we win 5-7 ACC games, very possible. But adding a twice injured Luther, two three star recruits, and a SJU transfer won’t be viewed as some sort of major upgrade. Maybe it will be, but I don’t know. I think at least 2 of the sophomores leave. This team still desperately needs another big, and a PG.

Yea - that roster would produce about 14-15 wins. If they added a quality big and another legit PG, then they’d be able to contend for an NCAA bid.

I'm tepid on Ellison. He is athletic, but he was basically the Chris Jones of St Johns. He may have developed more, but he strikes me of a guy who can fill a role on a good team, less a guy who is expected to be a major contributor on one. Perhaps an extra year to develop helped him put some things together, but I feel he is probably the equivalent of adding a Chris Jones or maybe a JWF (meaning a little more offensive talent, though inefficient)

Agreed - it seems like a roster filled with a lot of role players. Need some alpha dogs that can lead the pack.

Question for the guys who have clearly watched Ellison play a bunch. Looking at size (both are 6'6'', 215) and stats from their first two years, I can see the comparison, however it seems like Ellison drives a lot more than Jones did early on. Is this the case?

Also, Jones RS his freshman year, didn't he? Since Ellison didn't, isn't it fair to say that his first two seasons were a bit better than Jones'? I can't recall Jones' RS status.

I think that is fair, and yes Jones RS'd so he was a year older. There are some things Ellison does better like you noted, but there are some things Jones did better (protect the ball, more efficient shot %). Jones never took much of a jump forward offensively, if Ellison does then he could be a real asset, but ultimately there is a lot of similarity in their game.

Yeah they can not seriously give Stevenson minutes at the two next year. He's gonna be a solid 4 at the college level, he could probably play at the 3 too. Putting him at the 2 takes him away from what he does best, puts him at a position he's not suited for, and puts Pitt back at having a 2 guard that isn't a great shooter.

Carr is likely the PG but could play at the 2. Stewart has to be the starting 2 with his shot. Davis likely the starting 3, or plays the 2 and 3 off the bench depending on how Ellison looks. Luther, brown, peace, and Stevenson will get the minutes at the 4 and 5 positions. Chukwuka is kind of a wild card, he's a 4 but I can see him depending how it shapes out getting minutes also at either the 3 or 5.

Wasn't Ellison essentially the first off the bench at St Johns? Id be OK if his floor was Chris Jones with some more upside.

He started a lot last year and was 4th in MPG, 5th in scoring on their team. THey weren't very good. Don't get my wrong, I thing he is a good player, and good as far as transfers go I'm glad we added, but I don't think he has ACC star material, or is going to be some piece when added with Kingsby and Golden that is going to lead us to win a handful more games in the ACC. That kind of jump will fall on extreme improvement from Brown or Ilegomah
