Cap'n, I immediately thought of you when I read this! Ironic after the spirited debate here on this very subject with some visitors from the east.Well, well, well, what good timing and be sure this is going in my Archives! I knew about USC and Miami being one of the best because the ESPN did this same analysis in 2004 and USC was first over Miami, PITT Third, and ND and Texas came in the Top Five!
I did my own analysis way back in 1998 and just kept adding to it, and why I was so able to point out how Pitt Attracts the Top Quality Recruits that become GREAT OUTSTANDING PLAYESR IN THE NFL. Right there with USC, ND, OSU, and Michigan and ahead of all others!

Siragusa and Keith Hamilton easily could be the starting defensive tackles over Gilbert/Maas. Also, for Fralic to be left off shows the star power the school has had in the trenches.
