2 of 3 sound good. Not sure about Canuck n Vegas.I'll take the Avalanche, Canucks , and Islanders.
That was amazing. It felt like USA versus Russia. Demko almost single handily carried them to the final 4. Best goalie play I saw in years. And mad at Vegas because of Fleury not playing. But I have to admit the save Lenard made in the 2nd period was unbelievable.Demko now with 90+ consecutive saves, many of them absolutely spectacular.
He has been literally unconscious the last few games.
Wow. Got to love this bubble set up. Boom......Vegas/Dallas tomorrow night at 8:00. Not messing around. Just survive and advance.
Yes. But let’s face it. The NHL is racing against possible positive tests and in the bubble, these guy want this over with as quickly as possible. So the player’s aren’t going to complain. This would never happen today with all leagues bowing down to the television gods, but back in the day (when we had Penguins season tickets) the NHL would publish the schedule for all the playoffs long before the season even ended. The Eastern Conference played one day, the Western Conference played the next, then the East, then the West, and so on. The first game of the second round series was scheduled for two days after game seven of the first round, and so on. So that if you played seven game series you would play every other day from your first game until the Finals. For the Finals they always left one extra off day, so that if the conference finals both went seven games one team would have two days off and the other would have three. And I think the had one extra off day schedule between game six and game seven of the Finals, I assume just to help build the story if it got that far.
No back to backs, no two or three days off to manipulate the schedule the way that one of the television partners wanted it, just play a game, day off, play a game, day off, play a game, day off, all the way through.
That's pretty stunning if you think about it. Who would have thought in 1980......if you were a hockey fan, in five years, the entire dynamics of NHL hockey in Pennsylvania was going to change.Things that have happened since the Flyers last lifted the Stanley Cup.
Pitt Football won a National Championship
5 Stanley Cups for the Pens
The Pirates won a World Series
The Phillies won 2 World Series
The Sixers won the NBA title
THE EAGLES WON THE SUPER BOWL!
The Cubs, White Sox, and Red Sox ended their curses
The Rangers finally put 1940 to bed
The Steelers added 4 Lombardis to their collection
We saw the entire careers of both Wayne Gretzky, and Mario Lemieux, as well as those of Magic, Bird, Jordan, Shaq, and Kobe, plus 17 years of LeBron
Well, at least the Browns are still waiting 😆
Steelers with two Super Bowls since 1980. 2006 and 2009.That's pretty stunning if you think about it. Who would have thought in 1980......if you were a hockey fan, in five years, the entire dynamics of NHL hockey in Pennsylvania was going to change.
I mean, let's put this in perspective. Pitt has won a national title in football since. The Pirates have won a World Series since. The Steelers only have won 1 Super Bowl. UCLA was dominant in basketball. Gerald Ford was President. The Who and Led Zeppelin were still touring bands with their original lineups. Cable TV was not yet prevalent.
Still....it has been since what, 1967 for the Toronto Maple Leafs? This is the flagship franchise for English speaking Canada. 1964 for the Browns? The 1950's for the Indians? Hell, all of the Canadian NHL teams, last win in 1993 and that was a complete gift courtesy of the Islanders and David Volek.
OK. But the Flyers last won in 1975. That is the SPRING of 1975. The Steelers only had one at that point.Steelers with two Super Bowls since 1980. 2006 and 2009.
