Nice Dior Documentary ...

He seems like a carbon copy of Judah Mintz. Hopefully a better shooter and decision maker. I would expect he's going to be a 14 PPG+ guy. The question is whether he will be efficient and create for others.

His mindset and perspective was surprising coming from a kid with such a large social media following. Cautiously optimistic he bought into the system last year.

I have a bad feeling, for good reason, this ends up being a Paris Ford situation unfortunately. Hearing a lot of bad things off the court

The off the court stuff is what I'm concerned about. If he doesn't have his head on straight, he could be disruptive for the team. A tiger doesn't change his stripes.

I won’t question your sources, but if they know this is happening we should certainly hope that HCJC knows it as well and gets ahead of it! No reason to not nip it in the bud before it can’t be undone

Dior may be one that is not easy to manage. Like with the X, Trey, Toney, Champ garbage that went on. Capel had a good year last year but had high character older guys. He is not known as a coach that can manage difficult personalities. It’s what got him fired from Oklahoma. Hopefully, these Dior rumors of him going down a bad path are false. He has already been given his one chance.

Yeah, I am REALLY excited about Dior as a player, and I really hope HCJC can keep what he got going lastvyear, but he has a history of his lockerroom going south on him.

Yeah. Your info you have discovered is concerning and IF TRUE shows he didn’t learn a damn thing. We really need Dior this season.
I’ll take unsubstantiated rumors for what they’re worth until proven otherwise .

If the kids stupid enough to be hanging out with the wrong crowd and gets in trouble again he’s essentially killed his college career , I can’t believe he doesn’t understand this and he’s that stupid .

I wouldn't put much stock in it. BballinsiderfromPitt is like the National Enquirer. Most of the time, its made up or just bad sources but every once in awhile he gets it right. The part about hanging with the wrong crowd really makes no sense at all. He has been on campus since late December. It would take an unbelievable effort for him, between practice, travel, and class, to seek out a bad crowd to hang with in a city and campus and he is totally unfamiliar with. Maybe he called up Tre Mitchell and asked him for the phone numbers of the rough crowd he used to hang with in Elizabeth and Dior ubers to the mean streets of Elizabeth to cause trouble.

Listen. Dior will be the starting PG in November. He would have transferred by now. I do believe he is a high risk for another suspension/dismissal but I dont see that happening. He has 10 more months here and then turns pro. Capel will manage him and has learned from the other difficult personalities. Dior's body language on the bench and in warmups was tremendous. Seemed like a guy really rooting for his teammates and not moping because he couldn't play

I don’t want to get in between your guys constant battling. He has plenty of time to find trouble. What I heard was that there were pictures of him doing bad stuff with some guys that are very bad influences. He did something really really stupid last year to get essentially suspended. So I am not giving him any benefit of the doubt nor making accusations. Just hoping the rumors are untrue, the pictures don’t exist, and he isn’t hanging with bad influences. My only rebuttal to your point is that I doubt he is taking a tough class load which he may or may not regularly attend and are they even practicing now besides workouts? Dudes got plenty of time. And he still has plenty of time to make good or not good decisions before our season begins.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink it. I’m sure the staff has addressed these issues with him. It’s not like he hasn’t been in trouble before. If he hasn’t learned yet and he’s still being a knuckle head no amount of guidance from Capel is going to change things

Well this is the kiss of death. The kid will be gone before fall practice begins

Interesting that at least from what I've seen, there hasn't been much come out about Johnson going into next year, except for that one fluff piece. As I said before, until I see him actually on the floor at The Pete and playing in a game that counts, I won't believe he'll even make it here for this coming season. He's not exactly the most reliable person at this point that Capel can count on.

Last yrs incident involved a woman and that’s very different than hanging out with thugs . Like I said before if he values his bb career he needs to be playing it straight . This is no secret to him .

I agree. He better be making good choices though in all aspects of his life. Especially if we are handing him the keys to be our lead point guard next year.

What steps could he even take to find a bad crowd in the few months he's been here? Do you google "bad guys in Pittsburgh to hang out with?" Do you ask Tre Mitchell? He had to be back home or something.

If you were young and 'cool' and had 500k instagram followers and if you're looking for trouble and trouble is looking for you, it's probably pretty easy

It's not hard at all. Pittsburgh has its share of trouble, especially lately. I hate even traveling anywhere around or into the city of Pittsburgh. Ask the many companies (restaurants, financial services firms are just a couple of examples) who are moving their businesses out of Pittsburgh. They'll tell you it's not safe and the troublemakers are more visible now. But it's up to Johnson what he does. It's all on him.

No, SMF says teenage boys can’t find rides to the city or get in trouble. That’s why places like Summit Academy do not exist. No drug dealers, no drugs, no guns, no hanging out with bad people until you’re at least 21 in Pittsburgh! And no one can take a car and drive to hang out with the wrong crowd. NO ONE

I think people are talking about a few different things. Business owners’ complaints are largely just about downtown and not wanting the homeless population to be visible. There’s a secondary problem with teenagers from different parts of town who run into each other downtown and getting into fights, but that’s been happening for more than ten years, ever since Pittsburgh Public Schools closed a bunch of the neighborhood schools and made kids from different parts of town suddenly go to school together, and the Port Authority consolidated routes to make more people transfer buses downtown instead of being able to go direct from one place to another. That’s not a new issue, but also not the issue here - we’re not talking about Dior getting into a fight at the Wood Street T station because he saw some kids from the North Side, or spooking some business owners on Smithfield Street.

I don’t know what’s true or not true with Dior. But like Drew said, a kid with a platform like Dior has is a magnet for clout seekers in town. Some of those clout seekers might not be the best dudes out there, or the clout seekers are in close proximity to some outright bad dudes. This isn’t a new problem either, but it’s not like Dior is someone who has historically made great decisions at every stop.

Not being a jerk but did you go away to college. It’s extremely easy to find trouble. You can do it in one weekend if you don’t have impulse control or just make risky decisions or crave attention as Dior does.

lol ... The world is replete human trouble magnets.

Particularly in the good old US of A.

See, the good old US of A, with a little over 4% of the worlds population and 20% of the worlds prisoners.

You and I might define "prisoners" differently.

For every Kevin Durant there is a Lloyd Daniels. For every Lebron James an Earl Manigault. It’s up to the kid to make better choices and surround himself with a better support system. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. Only time will tell w Dior.

The kid I was shocked about that ended up staying out of trouble and having a long NBA career was Lance Stephenson
