Nike

Against that kind of size, quickness and athleticism thought he finished OK. FSU‘s size inside is on the order of UNC’s. This ain’t the MAC.
Agree but felt there were at least two he could have finished. Didn’t like. The open three he passed up for a contested two either.

Not really
He started the last two games, he started the game we had XJ and Horton come off the bench, and also got plenty of PT in other games. This is the first time all year he did anything. People were just ragging on him last game for starting.

No he didn't. He would play for what 2 minutes and then get pulled and never come on the court again.
He played a total of 67 minutes against Louisville, ND, NC St, and WF. He had a grand total of 16 points. Nobody that was paying attention to the game would say he deserved more minutes. He played well today and moving forward deserves minutes as long as he continues playing well.

Today was the first time he actually got into the flow of the game. The first time his teammates recognized him as a teammate.

That being said, i would not say he played well. He had several opportunities wastead.

Looks like Jeffress is so scared to make mistakes. It seems he doesn't allow himself to just go out and play. I don't see anything from him. This has to be the reason because u can't possibly be a top 100 player and really not contribute anything when your in the game

I expected him to be a better finisher
I thought Nike would be very similar to Trey McGowens, He does not seem to be nearly as athletic.

Still, maybe he got back into his game today.

The only way to know for sure is to give him a stretch of games in which he gets at least eight shots a game.

If Coach wants to see what Nike can do and is considering having him back next season, that run of Eight shots a game needs to happen.

Yeah that's what happened. We saw early on he could play and was making some smart decisions. Much more aggressive. Now, he looks like he has lost all confidence and hit a wall. Plus, he basically plays the same position as Justin.

I don't know about the rest of you, I liked what I saw from Nike yesterday. He was so much more confident and aggressive. As for finishing around the rim, there was most of the time where FSU's smallest player out there was 6'7", so those are rough matchups.

He earned pt

our best option is small ball
With toney and Justin as the bigs
Rotate akc to give a rest

Nike looked like he belonged yesterday. It was one of the few times he got an extended run. played solid D as well. still, not a great shooter and we need shooters. seems like he should get a consistent run as part of the rotation though.

For stretches this is probably the case. May depend on the particular opponent and individual match-ups.

Also wouldn’t necessarily rule out using Collier again some at times and in certain situations. It’s a free year of eligibility, after all. He’ll have growing pains, sure. But some more experience could prove beneficial as part of his learning curve and development If handled properly.

Collier snd Jeffries aren’t ready
They are as overmatched as brown right now.

akc and femi as rotational pieces .
If jeffres can give you 2-4 minutes - all the better

Sure. No doubt Collier is as overmatched as Brown. But any minutes Collier plays can help with his development. The same isn’t true of Brown. That plateau has been reached.

Development isn’t found in 2 minutes of playing time

There’s no 2 minute limit. FSU converted 12 dunks yesterday. In addition to other points in the paint off 2nd chances.

IMO, any minutes experienced by a young inside player right now who will still have 4 years of eligibility left after this season could have more value than the largely futile minutes a departing player is getting.

Pitt can - and will - try going small. But there are situations where that may just be impractical if they want to have even a chance. And TB’s been really ineffective lately.

Let's hope he gets shots Femi might take. And that he's more than a practice body.

If he comes back (and he should), I think he can be a decent player at the ACC level. Not a star but a contribtor. Sometimes it takes transfers a full year to adjust.

X's issues are well documented, but if Nike improves or at least finds some consistency matching the FSU effort, a backcourt of X-Horton-Nike-Femi IS good enough to make the NCAA tournament. Plenty good.

The problem is the giant hole in the middle, and getting X to play with some consistency.

This is what is so frustrating, the pieces on this roster aren't bad. They really aren't. But the consistency, the effort, the coaching, the dumb mistakes, and most of all the Hugley situation, its just really hurt the team to where they are close but not quite there.

Hugley showed some real potential, but was a typical frosh big. Next year he'd be really valuable. If Capel knew about his "Gone in 60 Seconds" event last summer, you'd expect him to really search for a replacement. Max has the size.....but??

Sibande is 3rd to last on the team in offensive efficiency ahead of only Jeffress and Drumgoole and dead last on the team in defensive efficiency (he's so bad defensively that he makes Horton, who is much better offensively, look good). He really doesn't offer anything that any random transfer wouldn't and there is absolutely no reason to bring him back next year if there is free player movement.

Tend to agree, but would not jettison him until a replacement is secured.
