Nike's Online Sales Increase

It just happened a few days ago so up from what.
Ridiculous statement with nothing to use as a measuring stick.
To short a duration to measure anything.

The facts right now:
Nike Stock Down After Announcement Of Kaepernick Campaign $ 4 billion Market Cap Loss

Nike investors aren't happy about the Colin Kaepernick ad

Nike's Sneaker Sales Are Down Compared to Last Year

I think Nike will lose on this one but others say:

Nike Knows Exactly What It’s Doing With Colin Kaepernick ..
This is still an open question and they might do well with this campaign?

I believe the Nike Sneaker Sales are down prompted Nike to do something and this was their answer.
This is a we'll see!

It's back to school time and all retailers online and in store go up during this time.

This will take one year to have any indication as to which way this will go.

Check back with us with a post one year from the date of the announcement..

Good try!

I don’t buy tennis shoes on line. I would go to Dicks. I am older so maybe that makes sense. Young people do more on line shopping. I think it’s too early to say what impact this will have.

I still am searching for a new Nike Driver and 3 Metal.......

Joking about the Nike golf equipment. A 10 year disaster for them. Woods sold plenty of golf shirts for them but couldn’t move the needle on clubs and balls. Neither could Rory.

Yeah, seriously...who would think Nike sales would go UP the week that most kids are going back to school...what were their sales year-over-year for the same seasonal period? Seems like some fake news....good Marketing, though. Lots of dopes just read headlines.

The clubs were garbage.
The golf balls were ok.....
A buddy got a putter from Nike and liked it so much bought a duplicate in case they dropped the line.

Btw Tiger went back to a Scotty putter for this weeks tourney.

What's funny is that lots of the top touring pros STILL play a Nike 3 wood. I've got a good buddy that swears by and absolutely crushes his Nike Square 3 wood. Apparently, that's the only good club that they made.

Is it fair to point out the irony of someone calling people dopes who just read the headline when they are obviously a dope who just read the headline?

"Nike’s NKE-0.12% online sales actually grew 31% from the Sunday of Labor Day weekend through Tuesday, as compared with a 17% gain recorded for the same period of 2017, according to San Francisco–based Edison Trends. "

Jeepers, that looks a whole lot like a comparison of their sales year over year. And that's literally in the second paragraph of the story.

One year? Ok. In the meantime, we will just have to watch to see if Nike falls totally apart. You made it sound as if this was the worst decision ever and Nike was going to go up in flames. If your posts the other day and your predictions were true we would already see a major negative response in sales and interest.

The one big thing financially that everyone is missing is the predicted value of the company dropped 4 billion dollars since the add aired. If anyone works in the financial word they realize how huge this is, and it is predicted to continue to drop. This is becoming disastrous for Nike. Many investors are upset because they were never told or asked about this marketing ploy. Nike has been losing market share in all the big sports and are pissed at the NFL. You areally a fool if you think Nike did this for anyrhing other than trying to make the Nike brand relevant and to increase their sales on in a targeted area. It is all.about money folks, nothing about what is right and wrong.

And.....

Should Kaepernick win his case V the NFL, no one will hesitate pouring $$$$ into Nike products or their shares on Wall Street.

And if he loses there is no downside to Nike whatsoever.

I never understood the logic here. You have been an outspoken advocate of the 2nd amendment. Why do you shit all over the 1st amendment?

I'm older too...If Dr. Scholls runs a campaign with a national celeb who kneels when asked to stand and honor their (and my) nation I'm gonna be in trouble...

Well, his "logic" isn't very logical, but he probably understands that the Kaepernick issue is not, and never has been, about the first amendment, because the first amendment absolutely, positively DOES NOT protect speech made while at work for a private employer.

As I said the other day, the biggest thing the Kaepernick kerfuffle has exposed is that there are a whole lot of people who have absolutely no idea what the first amendment says or what it actually means.

This has been obvious for a long time...

I watched a few shows about this. Nike did a very detailed analysis about how this would impact sales. They felt comfortable going forward. I think their financial projections took into full account how people would react.

From what I have seen there have been more positive reviews than negative so far. But will see what happens when the NFL season begins.

I understand. At the time Kap was protesting, what league policies was he violating?

It's still his right to peacefully protest. If the NFL wants to suspend him for exercising his right at his place of work; that's their choice but his actual protest is protected under the 1st amendment.

It doesn't have to be a league policy. People are not protected by the first amendment when they protest on company time and on company property. The first amendment is all about the government restricting speech and has nothing at all to do with private speech done outside of government control.

If you want to have a protest rally at Point State Park and you follow all the procedures you have to be given a permit by the government for the protest, whether you are protesting Kaepernick or Trump or people who don't understand the first amendment. If you want to have a protest rally on the property of Nike you have no right to do that and are subject to arrest if you do, even if it's the exact same protest about the exact same subject.

No, it isn't. How on earth could you possibly think that someone has a right to protest but that they also can be suspended for doing so? If you have a constitutional right to protest then it would be illegal for your employer or anyone else to sanction you for doing so. The fact that you can be legally suspended for holding a protest shows that the protest was not, in fact, protected by the constitution.

There's many ways that someone can violate workplace rules and not be acting outside the law. Can I legally smoke weed and be suspended for smoking weed at the office? Drinking alcohol. Smoking cigarettes. Etc.

This is correct. The mere words or actions themselves are inviolate. He can protest all he wishes in the public street outside a private venue. Private venues can request he stop or be removed, employers can choose to disassociate with him. The question i might have are with all these publically financed stadiums these teams finagled...

It's not worth concerning with because normally news cycles and public attention will quickly pass this by.

But of course none of those are a constitutional right, so they are immaterial to the discussion.

If someone does something that is protected by the constitution then the cannot be sanctioned for doing it. If they can be sanctioned for doing something then it obviously is not protected by the constitution. If it were otherwise then the constitution would be meaningless. If you have a constitutional right to protest anytime and anywhere then you would not be allowed to be sanctioned by ANYONE for committing that action. The fact that someone can be legally sanctioned for protesting something at their workplace shows that it is not a constitutional right.

This is a fact!

It's not a first amendment issue. But there would be major challenges to firing a professional athlete for not standing.

First Amendment only applies to government sanctions, “a player’s rights as an employee are largely determined by contract. There are two relevant contracts here: the player’s employment contract with his team and the collective bargaining agreement that governs the player’s working conditions as an employee of one franchise in a league.”

An NFL team that fired a player for protesting would not only need to deal with the players’ union and the arbitration process, but the terminated player could file a discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or possibly file a defamation lawsuit, McCann said.

I dont think he said that they can't say what they want. He just disagrees and thinks it will damage them in the long run.

You said what you want to say. He said what he wants to say. Kapernick said what he wants to say. Nike says what they want to say. I am saying what I want to say. That is the 1st Amendment.

Don't be a retard.
