With newspaper ownership groups like Advance Publications (I know reporters at a few papers they bought) who only care about the bottom line, real reporting and real newspapers will continue to disappear. Many huge newspapers have been printing less often, printing considerably smaller papers, pushing for online likes and comments, firing experienced reporters who have all the contacts and knowledge, and having teams of barely paid "interns" post items directly online with no editing whatsoever. It's truly disgusting, especially since the context and backstories behind stories that real investigating used to dig up and report is gone, so we're fed a lot of one-sided PR pieces and when the real story comes out from a concerned citizen who looks into things and posts their findings they get labelled a conspiracy theorist or nut because they didn't accept what the media reported. Now I'm starting to sound nuts to those of you who have never seen how a major newspaper runs over time. Follow the money, blah blah blah...
