No Wonder Capel won’t play Duquesne!!

You have to think the team would have known that Duquesne is a good team, and would have been hyped to play the game. A loss to them would have sucked, but in reality, would have been a loss to a top 100 team, and not nearly the embarrassment that this is.

Dambrot and Toole are both better head coaches than Capel.
By quite a bit. This Pitt team is undisciplined, not schooled well in fundamentals, and has no offensive game plan other than "attack", team lacks focus and plays street basketball. Capel's team was completely unprepared to play. You can't blame this current mess on Stallings. Stalling may have been a stupendous failure, Capel is just an overrated train wreck.

With Duquesne right from tipoff, Capel would be at a disadvantage just in coaching. Then it would get worse from there.

Not even in the same stratosphere. Unfortunately neither have recruited at the HM level so who knows how they would “move within the confines of those circles” let’s say.
I don't know enough about Dambrot but Toole maxes out on his talent. They play very hard, his players develop and continually improve, he runs sets that favors his players' talents, and he doesn't tolerate nonsense.

Toole is a very good coach. I haven't seen much of Dambrot in action, but Duquesne went 21-9 last year. That tells me all I need to know.

Pitt should play Duquesne, RMU, WVU, and Penn State every year in BB. They should play WVU and Penn State in FB every year too.
Hoops for sure. Won’t happen in football. I think 2 years (4 years some decades) a decade is realistic and would be enough to really make the games meaningful. Both schools should be looking South to schedule neutral site games/1:1’s. WVU is very experienced and willing to do this. Have no idea about Pitt. Perhaps it looks at itself as a northern/Midwestern school and prefers to schedule there. My guess is that it would be tougher for Panthers to schedule Chick Fil A Atlanta/Charlotte type of game but I could be wrong. Have no idea.

Despite being 70 miles away, these programs really are polar opposites in every respect. Still a great rivalry....don’t get me wrong.
