Noah Collier is in the transfer portal

Realistically, this doesn't matter. Comparatively, he was one of the few who I thought might have some upside (as a bench guy). I see zero upside for Jeffres, Oladapo, Payton, or Amadasun.

So I think we have three confirmed ships open (Gueye, Eze, and Collier). I believe Femi will make four. Add in the aforementioned, and that number could rise to 8. I'll be curious to see if we can bring in one or two ACC players out of those 8. Whatever it is that Capel is trying to do, my money would probably be on the opposite outcome.

I have not seen this reported anywhere else (not saying its not true), but this is probably just the beginning.

Posted on verbal commitments.com.

bummer bc he had the athletic ability to play in the ACC and was starting to come around. Would’ve looked for a GLF jr. & sr. Year.

Understandably he doesn’t want to exclusively backup big john

This was one I didn't see coming tbh.

Really? 50% of players transfer at least once. Are you that caught off guard that a backup Center (playing out of position) on a bad team, who isnt even an ACC-level player would transfer?

We're going to lose 7-8 players. And that's fine because most of them suck. We just need to keep Hugley, Burton, Sibande, Femi, and Horton but I realize Femi will probably transfer.

He was always a project - but doesn’t seem
The wait to develop is a thing anymore

if AKC stayed , not sure where collier would have gotten minutes to be honest

He was terrible but right now his replacement is well, nothing. Probably gonna be like coming off the death penalty in yr 5.
At least the ACC stinks.

Collier most likely wants to play more than a minor backup role and he’s smart enough to realize that’s as good as it’s going to get at Pitt .

The way of developing players for 2 or 3 yrs is dead , if a kid isn’t playing significant minutes he’s going to leave no matter who the coach is .

That’s why recruiting freshman who aren’t ready to contribute is a wasted scholarship .

Wish him well he’ll do ok at a lower level .

Are some of you really upset about losing Noah Collier??
Only to the extent that we more than likely won’t replace him from the portal with anyone better or with anymore potential.

Collier was no barn burner but he had athleticism and was energetic on the court. There was always the hope he could have some small GLF with more playing time and the experience that comes with it.

Yep. If you don't get a Top 150ish kid, there's really no point in offering. That kid will sit a year or 2 and then transfer.

Recruiting will become:

- Top 150s
- Transfers

Mid-majors will basically be the new JUCOs

Maybe his new coach will teach him how to set a screen.
He actually went from
terrible to bad setting
screens. However the one
thing he did do was hustle.
He doesn't belong in the
ACC and this is a good move
for him. He needs to drop to
a lower level, lower than A-10
in fact. Of the several players
who ought to leave, Payton,
Olidapo, Jeffress, Amadason,
I would have thought he might
stick around as a back up. I
wish him the best, he seemed
to be a good team mate.

Even *if* he was willing to stay and develop, is there any evidence that this coaching staff is capable of developing anything?

A10???

I would say he needs to drop lower than mid-major let alone high major. If he transfers to a good mid-major program like a Cleveland State, he risks not playing much. But if he chooses a bad mid-major like RMU, he probably plays a good bit. If he goes low major like St. Francis, he can be a key player.

If all these players are going into the portal what are they waiting for?
Added value waiting til later in the spring. Lol. Teams wine & dine like everyone is a 5 star after the plums are picked. Btw, starting tomorrow night, I defy anyone to show me one team Collier could get minutes. He’s not a BB player. You’ll see real BB players in the tournament.
