I wonder how much more rope Hubert Davis gets? 8-6 record after the Ville takes them down this evening and just struggling. As an aside, I wonder if Derek Dixon is thinking twice about his commitment there??? That program is clearly slipping under Hubert.
UNC won the ACC and racked up 29 wins last year. I think they just overscheduled a bit this year. Their losses so far this year are to Kansas, Auburn, Michigan State, Alabama, Florida, and now Louisville. Not sure what the rankings are, but 4 or 5 of those losses are probably to Top 10 to 15 type teams. They have wins over Dayton and UCLA.
Only Derek Dixon would know the answer to that. But he's probably being well paid to wear the baby blue.
UNC is simply not very good this year—-primarily due to lacking a quality post player forcing them to play small ball.UNC won the ACC and racked up 29 wins last year. I don't remember them looking this bad under Dr. Roy Williams. Perhaps they did have a down season or two. I just don't remember them ever striking out on a big man, or not grabbing one from the portal. I really don't mind it at all, other than the fact it does weaken the conference when their down. I really can't stand them anymore. I was once a fan back in the Jordan days and even a while after.Hasn't UNC always been like this? For being a blue blood, it seems like they're much less strangers to clunker seasons than like Duke and Kansas, for example.
Roy had a 5-11 ACC record in his 7th year at UNC. He was 14-19 overall and 6-14 back in 2020. Roy's last year at UNC they were 18-10 and 10-6 in the ACC.I don't remember them looking this bad under Dr. Roy Williams. Perhaps they did have a down season or two. SMF is correct though, you are NC, you should not be a bubble team. At this point, they better get going in conference, or they aren't even going to see the bubble. They really should consider hiring a new coach. Duke has managed to remain strong without Coach K. Hubert doesn't seem to have what it takes to keep them a perennial power.
Whose fault is that?
You are North Friggin Carolina. You should never been a bubble type team. Go hire Bruce Pearl or Nate Oats and call it a day.
Everything you said us pretty much true. It is probably just me, but, I feel like that program is slipping. I guess we will have to wait and see what they look like next year, and what the recruiting class looks like.Roy had a 5-11 ACC record in his 7th year at UNC. They are still probably the 2nd best team in the ACC. Not sure they will finish 2nd, but I think they have more talent than everyone besides Duke. That said, they aren't in a good position. It's not easy being a Duke, UNC, or a Kentucky or Kansas when you don't have talent head & shoulders above everybody else. Every conference opponent has you circled on their schedule. Sterile atmospheres suddenly rock when those teams come to town. Nobody else has to deal with that. Even in their best years, programs like Louisville, Virginia, and Syracuse don't really get that attention in the same way those blue-bloods do.
There are 364 teams in Division 1. North Carolina is 312 out of 364 of points given up. Can't have a strong winning team with that D no matter how impressive your offensive players are.I wonder how much more rope Hubert Davis gets? 8-6 record after the Ville takes them down this evening and just struggling.
