The Pitt basketball team has already improved with the expiration of Cam Wright's eligibility. An awful year capped off by an awful game.

I respect loyalty, however, it isn't always a good thing.
Cam Wright played too many minutes for this team that took away from the potential development of others.

despite the best efforts of his loyal supporters on the Lair to explain the subtleties of his excellence to the rest of us. He never passed the eyeball test-ever. Starting with the fact that most 4 men are better ballhamdlers than he is.
He is one of the least skilled players to ever occupy the backcourt on a Power 5 level team.
Good kid, he'll do well in life. Unfortunately that doesn't help Pitt win basketball games. Glad he's moving along.

Glad he's DONE! He sucked! Phillips-Nwonkwo was a better player, seriously, Wright averaged 10ppg, but how many ppg did his constant mistakes cost? I'd like to see a hockey stat, like a +/- to show cost of his mistakes vs. the points he scored.

I do not want to pile on a player, especially a college player that invested 5 years at Pitt.
However, you are absolute right but there is another big issue to consider and it is having a coach put players in roles they can fill.
The basis of the issue is that Jamie and/or Cam tried to make Cam more was he could ever be. Cam never had and never would be the 5th year offensive force and creator that Patterson was last year. I think Jamie tried to make Cam fill the role of Patterson and it was a mess throughout the year and crashed and burned at the end. How many times did Cam take a missed shot or have a bad TO a critical times in games this year? How about Wake and FSU and and and and?
Cam had one game offensively this year at home but I do not remember the game. It may have been Pitt vs ND. However, my rule for Pitt was that if Cam took more than 6 shots in a game Pitt would lose. Go back and look at the last 5 Pitt loses and tell me what Cam shot.
Putting Cam in a position he could not fill lays right at the feet of Coach Jamie.
