I go to BWI once in a while to read up on their recruiting info and anything they have to say about Pitt. I responded to a thread a while ago, and couldn't believe the responses. Anyway, I noticed you replied in a thread with Pitt rivalry in the header. Realize that you can't rationalize with irrational people. Many PSU fans, including some good friends are reasonable and can carry on a discussion without demeaning the others, but some posters over there are just way over the top, and very insecure in their defense of PSU and the B1G. I take the bait once in a while there to respond to an unreasonable Pitt post, but I am careful to pick my battles and stay respectful or banning is a result.

UPS is a big diploma state school that spits our degrees from 26 or so campuses all saying UPS on them so they have quit a feeder system. Add to that PA residents who identify with the state school and there is their fan base.

I try to be respectful and engage in rational conversation, but is difficult for sure. There are some decent posters but overwhelmed with asinine arguements and mentality.. As a whole they view themselves above everyone else in college football...

In all due respect, I can't believe any Pitt fan would actually post on BWI. To be truthful no Pitt poster COULD post over there either until the message board change, thanks to the mentality and Mod over-reaction. It was bad before, but post-Sandusky honestly it is borderline crazy.

They refuse to see their football and basketball program (which any sports fan really cares about) is irrelevant nationally. To the point their football program has been disgraced around the country. On top of that, their hoop program is simply pathetic.

They are a wanna-be player in today's college football scene (paying a coach 4 or 5 million year ) to win at all cost. Yet, looking at our record to theirs. When it comes to football over the LAST 15 years. We have practically the same record lol

BTW, my masters is from the #1 program for my major for two straight years prior to going there, while I was there and one year after. Is is crap too since my PITT branch education, leadership experience and campus involvement helped me get admitted?

Nope. Are you saying my PITT degree is crap? Quite frankly, the four year branch I went to, at the time, was probably the worst academic branch out of both. ZFG as I had a great experience, earned a degree from a high quality academic institution and moved on.

No - I never said either degree was crap actually. What I am saying is that sustaining 24 campuses is significantly harder academically than 4 AND the admittance rate is much, much higher, obviously. And with much more relaxed admittance qualifications come some lessening of its stature.

That's fair. I really couldn't speak to a PSU branch because I only went to main. Couldn't speak to PITT main because I only went to a branch. Main didn't have my major at the time anyhow and there was no way I would have gone to PITT main...just like there is no way I would have gone to UP as an undergrad.

I would rather see Pitt play good teams from the SEC or PAC-12. Instead of playing a VERY mediocre program from a mediocre conference in Ped st.

Beating them would do nothing to help our team on a national level. They are on the same level as beating a team like Northwestern or Minny. Maybe worse if you look at Ped st's record lately. It would create zero buzz nationally when we beat them.

Online education is no joke. It's where education is headed. I'm doing an MBA & MS Finance through Indiana's Kelley School of Business right now and I'm getting plenty out of it, even though you only have to do two residencies. Carnegie Mellon now offers an online MBA with minimal on-campus requirement. Same with UNC's Kenan-Flagler. Duke's Fuqua Distance Program isn't marketed as an online MBA, but it's set up very much like one with minimal residency. It's not that different than the traditional executive MBA, except that the campus requirement is more accommodating for working students. The biggest thing you lose is the networking, but as far as the curriculum goes, at least at Kelley it's the same faculty that teach in their Top 20 full-time program.

For the record, Pitt's an excellent school and you'll never hear me disparage them for academics. My mom, stepmom and sister-in-law all are Pitt grads.

Looking forward to next year. I have really missed the on-field rivalry.
