Does anybody have any suggestions about traveling to South Bend for the game? Does Pitt offer a travel package? Tailgating options? I’m excited to get to South Bend for a game! I’ve seen Pitt at PSU, Morgantown and unfortunately at the infamous Toledo game. I’ve been to Notre Dame before but not on a game day.
Oh… and Rudy was offsides.
Thanks for any help!

There was a thread a couple weeks ago with similar discussion, I was able to find the link (below)…Might help answer some of these questions…

I'm leaning towards Chicago. A little further away from ND but can make a mini-vacation out of it. I think there are towns in the vicinity in Indiana that are available but probably best if you just want to get in and out for game

I thought about Chicago as well. What would be the plan on getting from Chicago to ND on game day? I’m hearing conflicting things on traffic and parking. There are still some hotels near ND though. I’m trying to figure out the easiest way to get on campus, see some sights maybe attend a Pitt tailgate if any are out there and get into the game.

I'm looking at public transportation, I believe there is a train line that runs to South Bend. I've heard stories as well on the cost of renting a car, parking it in Chicago, driving, traffic, parking on game day at ND, tolls. Could really be an expense/hassle doing it that way.

and also, the alumni association and/or panther club usually sponsors a tailgate for away games, although it can be a little pricey.

Having tried doing tailgating at ND, I suggest against it. You can do it … we found a lot and tailgated … but it was not very good. Just drinking in a gravel field. Some others were doing it too, but it was rather forlorn. WE have better tailgating around Acrisure, which says something. It’s just not that kind of place.

However you end up getting there, I suggest you and your party should forego tailgating, head to the campus and drink in the ‘culture’ of the place, such as it is. That’s what we did another occasion. It was ok. There’s def a buzz, it’s kind of cool. It wasn’t for me personally, honestly. I just can’t get too enthused about the OPPONENT’s lore if that makes sense. It checked a bucket list item though. And many others find it to be hallowed ground…you may be more affected.
