I've heard that Kelly will be on probation next year, then will likely be terminated following the year. Seems like a terrible idea in terms of program stability to have a coach in a "dead man walking" position.

If ND takes this punishment with only minimal protest, you can bet that it wasn't the GA being rogue. Kelly knows what is going on...just like Joe know what was going on. The supporters can't have it both ways.

TIFWIW...From an ND booster friend: Kelly is out at the end of the year and James Franklin at the top of the replacement list.

Franklin would be crazy to go into that program right now. He will have a tough go next year at PSU as the schedule is much harder. That is where Franklin runs into trouble. Expectations are much farther ahead of what the level of talent is. They got lucky in beating the bucknuts. They played some teams like Iowa that are not as good as expected. They were in a back and forth with Indiana and could have lost that game. MSU is down from where they were and I expect a tough game anyway. ND is not a great coaching job anymore.

Wow. Think ND eats another big buyout this soon? Kelly got extended after last season through 2021.
