...losing to Austin Desanto from Exeter. It was the only loss in Lee's illustrious high school career. Lee is a 3-time World Champion from Franklin Regional.

Yeah, Lee lost 6-5 when he was taken down with 1 second to go in the match (Desanto actually got two takedowns in the last 30 seconds of the match) ..... Lee seemed to wear down in the 3rd period and Desanto is very good and kept constant pressure on Lee ..... Lee was 35-0 and ranked #1 in the country at 126 lbs and Desanto was 52-0 and ranked #4 in the country ..... Lee did defeat Desanto 15-0 in the finals last year ...... Desanto got revenge this year ...... it was considered a big upset but Desanto is very good..... actually 3 of the top 4 wrestlers at 126 lbs in the country are from Pennsylvania ...... Gavin Teasdale of Jefferson-Morgan who won the AA 126 lb Pa. championship today is ranked #2 in the country.

Cary Kolat lost the last match of his H.S. career in the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic. This just goes to show that despite how talented any kid is as an athlete there are always other kids working their ass off to prove they belong.
It's a major reason why I dismiss the star systems to some extent because you just never know when one kid peaks out while another is still developing, progressing & working hard.
This Lee kid is still a great & accomplished wrestler whose accomplishments will stand but there's always a point when the pack begins to catch up.......H2 PITT !!!

Pitt recruit, Nino Bonaccorsi, lost in the state finals at 182 lbs 4-3 when he was taken down with about 25 seconds to go in the match.

it's almost like he was jinxed, people calling him the best ever and even best athlete from this area ever before his career is over

what is the point in having classifications for wrestling? a AA champ and a AAA champ in the same weight class?

just read he tore his ACL last month and didn't train for a month

That would explain why it looked like Lee wore out in the match and it looked like he couldn't move laterally very well ..... with a torn ACL and no training on the mat for a month, it's amazing that Lee did as well as he did (lost it in the last second of the match) against a very good wrestler !

Yeah, I just read the same thing. It was clear that he wasn't the same wrestler that many of us have seen for the past four years.

Some people will say that it's nothing more than an excuse, but nonetheless, the kid clearly didn't have the fire or the endurance. One report said that he's been seen by the orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Bradley, and he's also had an MRI which confirmed the diagnosis.

That is a very good question . You would think Teasdale should now wrestle DeSanto .
126 lbs. vs. 126 lbs. This is not technically a "team" sport . Especially for a state championship ... Anyone ?

Kolat's last match was a tie, not a loss. Most people treated it as a loss though.

I was at that match, and in fairness, Kolat had the benefit of some "home cooking" in the officiating. Most people thought that Bono was shorted a few points; I was a huge Kolat fan, and even I thought so. ;)
