O.T. --One guy's opinion: the 5 most overrated head coaches in NCAA football...(link)

Solid list. I like ferentz, but can see how his name would be brought up.

Don't see Ferentz. He isn't a great coach but I don't think most people think he is a great coach. He is a good coach and its not easy to win big at Iowa. Sure they have a solid fan base but there is very very little in state talent. If you have to bring in basically all your talent its going to be hard to compete with the big boys in college fb. Basically ferentz has Iowa where they should be 8 wins a year and on occasion a 10 win season.

Although personally I don't like the guy, but I think Harbaugh on this list is a bit premature. They were a play or two away from the B1G championship game. If they under achieve this year, I'd have to agree but not after just 2 seasons. JMO.

Iowa's Ferentz turned around that Program over 15 years ago, many complain over his salary, but he started at Pitt, went to Iowa and then Maine the to NFL Browns-Ravens, and has done more with less with steady winning with Five 10+ Win Season, 13 Win Seasons, and only 4 losing seasons, the first two when he took over. He dies more with less in the very tough Big Two-Big Ten Six!

Harbaugh had exposure to Pitt Football when his Father Coached at Pitt. I remember his Picture on SI as they weer picked to win it all. He did well Stanford but is Perfect Fit for Michigan as I see it. Harbaugh biggest problem is Urban Meyer and both Schools are known to dump Coaches that win 10+ Wins but can't beat the other as often as demanded. This is why the Big Ten is the BIG TWO in my view and has been way back between Woody& Bo! He turned around Stanford as well going 12-1 finally after 4 seasons. I don't think he should be on that lists all right now.

Tom Herman another Cincinnati Native Son like Urban Meyers but got his FB roots in California and then Texas, and then spent 2 years with OSU. He has done great at Houston but that was only 2 years. Now he will be really tested and we shall see. As OC-QB he was part of OSU Success.

I agree on Kiiffen & Kelly. Spent much time at USC with some Boosters and Kiffen was a pure jerk hiring his Father and Family and is most likely a better OC than Head Coach. USC called him, Lame Lane, and wears out his welcome wherever he goes. Pitt can thank BAMA's Saban, FAU and Kiffen for bringing Charlie Partridge back to Pitt!

Kelly is a terrific coach but I looked at the background of his current staff. Kelly might have his hit stop level coaching progress at Notre Dame. The Talent has been Recruited in the Top 10 but the Coaching does not seem to develop it on Game Days!
