Obnoxious Stiller Fans

Yeah, bad look this week. It’s bad at most nfl stadiums and night games get especially ugly but I think Steeler fans are up high on the list.

The one dude head butting the other is fine, kinda funny actually but the other dude grabbing the pregnant chick by the throat? That’s pretty pathetic.

add in the fact it was a beautiful day for December.....ideal tailgating conditions. That really added fuel to the fire.

They should realize that the stillers just arn't that good, if you listen to 93.7 the so called fan, they would have you think that the only reason the steelers lose is that they beat themselves, and not the other team beating them, if you listen to the fan that's all they talk about from morning to night, over and over, show after show, it's amusing sometimes to listen to all the know it all's. But it's also disgusting to hear the same crap over and over show after show, not to mention all the people who call in giving their advise to Tomlim.

I was in the club level one time and this one dude was trying to pick a fight with a Ravens fan just because he had a Ravens shirt on. Im all for good a natured ribbing but get a grip people........its just a freaking football game. For many of these people, the Stillers are the sole source of entertainment.........they spend all their disposable income on stiller tix.

Incredibly funny because the cranium is built for bone to bone high speed impact. Really?

I went to a ravens game in Baltimore wearing a Steeler jersey, I wasn’t even out of my car before getting harassed.

Let’s not act like it’s only Pittsburgh. Leave the women (especially if they are pregnant) and kids at home, take a few buddies and expect to be surrounded by the lowest denominator.

That’s the nfl live game experience. It’s gotten to the point of going to an nfl game wearing an opposing jersey is literally a risky move. That’s sad. Dude took his pregnant wife to an away night nfl game while she was wearing an opposing jersey. WTH was he thinking?

That would actually be a cool documentary. Get a few guys, each with a hidden camera and have them go to every nfl stadium, wearing the opposing team jersey. Have them tailgate a bit at each game. Document it all.

I’d watch that.

This is how you straighten out unruly fans in sports stadiums.

It's not alcohol that's the problem its the person who drinks to much alcohol and can't control themselves.

So the answer is Security, Security, Security.
1. If you become unruly you get thrown out of the stadium no questions asked-Out.
2. If you get thrown out and you're a season ticket holder you're seasons ticket is revoked for the season.
3. If you assault someone you get arrested by Pittsburgh police

If security follows strick rules fans will learn to act appropriately.

The worst example of security was when the Eagles played the Vikings in the NFC championship game. Eagles fans threw frozen soda and water bottles at Vikings fans injuring some in plain view of security.
A women hit by a frozen soda can in the face asked security to remove or have the Eagles fans arrested and they replied that's not possible. This was written up in our local paper last year.

The best example of fantastic security in Pittsburgh is at the Tequila Cowboy. Mrs Buffett and I go there a lot and love the place especially the security. They have security all over the place, they take the bar rules serious, and throw anyone out who violates their rules.

One night we were with some people at Tequlla Cowboy, one of the women decided to climb up and sit on the bar. Guess what she was out of the bar in about 10 secs. No warning out! That's great security.
When you're in the bar you don't have to worry about the knuckleheads security takes care of them.

On the Saturday prior to Halloween at Tequilla Cowboy the place is packed and people are inches apart, drinking, dancing, having fun and security is is all over the place being proactive making sure people follow the rules and don't get out of control.

NFL stadium security should be increased and they should follow the no warning no tolerance rule. Act up, become unruly, assault someone and you're gone!

It’s the alcohol. Who are you kidding. Ban alcohol, ban tailgating and this eliminates 98% of the problem.

Of course they won’t cause it’s too much money.

Why blame the guy who brought his wife? WTH is wrong with people who take a freaking game so seriously. The dude that did that should be banned from attending all future games.

I don’t blame him. I’m just asking what the hell he was thinking.

Quite honestly, I would not have assumed that there were that many morons at a Steeler game had I not witnessed it first hand. WVU............thats another thing.

It's the fault of people who drink to much alcohol and can't control themselves not the alcohol. So the answer is to remove those exceptions from the party!

Mrs Buffett and I go to games, enjoy some drinks, and behave properly! Most people do the same!

You're one of those who wants to protect everyone with Big Brother and take away the alcohol, tailgates, and punish the majority of people who behave properly, who want to socialize, have a few drinks, food, and fun at sporting events.

Why not close all the bars near the stadium??????????????????????

I bet you walk into the stadium, see all the people laughing, having fun at tailgates and hate them because you're not invited to any of them. People who like fun stay away from those who can't have fun!

fyi- people who can't control their drinking don't wait for gamedays to be morons they do dumb stuff everyday! DUI resulting in serious injury and death, domestic violence, assault, other crimes all of which are worse than being a jerk in an sports stadlum.

So if we follow your guidance we should ban alcohol go back to the days of prohibition since it's the alcohol to blame not the out of control people who abuse alcohol and can't control themselves!???????????????????

This head-butting fan should have his season tickets revoked and spend a month in jail. What a pathetic dude.
I don't know, head butting someone is ridiculous move. it's so ridiculous, I almost have to give it credit. Pathetic would be to yell and shove and punch, but head butting someone. pathetic in a cool way, if that makes any sense. Well not cool, entertaining maybe. Not sure of the word..

in short, if you are gonna be a D-Bag, do it with style. he accomplished this.

You paint with a large brush, no? Significant? I am a Steeler fan and I’ve never choked a woman, much less a pregnant one. Are there obnoxious Steeler fans? Of course. There’s obnoxious fans everywhere.

Yep the exception becomes the rule???????????

These are the fun hating people who are focusing on the exception, to (as you said) paint all fans who drink alcohol with a broad brush.

The majority of sports fans, have fun, drink alcohol, control their drinking, behave themselves and enjoy the competition!

The news media focuses on the few exceptions who don't do the right thing because they have lots of media space to fill up and the love when the exception becomes the rule!??

No fan base is worse than the Raiders. When Howie Long played there he publicly stated he wouldn’t let his wife and kids attend (this was before his divorce) and it didn’t get any better when the Raiders moved to LA. Many of their more violent fans kept their season tickets and traveled to LA 8 weekends a year. Now that their back in Oakland but moving to Vegas next season, I have heard that things are even worse.

The game itself being so violent I think is one of the reasons there is more violence at pro football games. You don’t see that at baseball games, for example. The incident in LA a few years back where a Giants fan was assaulted in the parking lot by Dodger fans and ended up in a coma got a lot of press because it was so unusual.

Pro sports teams here need to start doing what soccer teams do in Europe. Any Barcelona fan who starts a fight at a game is banned permanently from the stadium. I’ve been to 10 Barcelona matches, and at each one they have taken my photo at the entrance and run it through a facial recognition program. Hooligans who get into fights during the Champions League, which involves international travel, are banned from traveling to games and can lose their passports. The only two countries in Europe that still have a lot of hooligans are Russia and Italy. In Rome, the Roma and Lazio hooligans are supported by the teams. In Russia, the hooligans are supported by the Putin government.

I prefer bars where women are encouraged to sit on the bar, to each his own I guess.
I can't respond since Mrs Buffett posts on this board when she's done posting on her CSU board.
But that does seem like a nice bar doesn't it??? Sitting on the bar yes very nice.
I've been to nice bars like that. Girls have to make a living right??

I've been going to Steelers games as a season-ticket holder since 1991. Over the years, I've had maybe 4-8 significant incidents within close range of my seats (my section, or one over to the left or right). Each time security arrived within a reasonable period of time and each was the result of some idiots who drank too much and couldn't contain themselves.

Yeah.
I remember working out on the left coast .
Working 7 days a week one Sunday at about 6:00 a.m. I drove by and it was a scene out of Mad Max .
And I was probably 4 blocks from the stadium .

What he was saying though is if you remove alcohol then it never gets to that point. Sure you can remove the guy who choked the pregnant lady, but she already got choked. Remove the fans throwing frozen bottles, but people already got hit in the head. Remove the alcohol, none of that happens to begin with.

Safety only matters though when money isn’t being compromised. I mean it won’t completely solve the problem because people will still tailgate outside before the games. But I just don’t think enforcing rules is really gonna scare people, especially drunk people that probably only have a handful of brain cells to begin with.

Taking it beyond just being thrown out of a stadium, a fan was killed at a dodgers-giants baseball game. Pretty sure the fan who killed the other fan knows murder lands you in jail. Ok you get punished great, still didn’t prevent the incident from happening.

I’m not pretending to know the answer of what to do. I just don’t think trying to scare rowdy drunk people with reprocussions is very effective at preventing these incidents.

I have been a season ticket holder since 1971. Several couples would tailgate and attend the game. It was a good crowd and we had fun. Paid the seat license fee and got bad seat assignment but still went . last few years crowd changed. Profanity fights and bad drinkers. C word common. Young men getting sick and fighting. Women now refuse to attend. Games now have lost priority. Calling security causes a dilemma. Are you a rat and a killjoy or doing the right thing? Love to go to games. Pitt’s are much more civilized. Except when WVI is on town.

Any grown man that gets that worked up over other grown millionaire football players is a LOSER!!!!!!
Most of these millionaire (60 to 80%) ten minutes after the game is over could care less if they won or lost. They want paid and are trying to not get injured. When is was a kid or in college or into my late 20’s I lived and died with the Steelers but the older I get I could care less. I watch the games if I’m around the house, now that it gets dark early and it never stops raining and apparently the sun is boycotting PA I watch more, but when they lose I turn off the TV and forget about it five minutes Later.

Yea I get what you are saying. Like if he threw a punch, ok, he's drunk, it's a Stiller game, it happens. But a headbut? Yea, that dude needs locked up. Who headbuts? This wasn't a Serbian bar fight. I hope he spends some time in the slammer. What a DB.

I don’t go to games to sit back and watch and enjoy the game. I don’t go there to sit in my seat and relax with friends or family. I go to games to be a part of the game, to do my part in creating as much noise as humanly possible...whether it be yelling, clapping, slamming my hands or feet off the seats. I have no problem with fans yelling and saying profanity etc. We’re adults, fet over yourself...also your children hear it out of your mouth, on tv and at school, they’ll be fine.

Physical violance is dumb at an event, but if the violance is brought to you....as my mum always said, you don’t sit back and take a whoopin, you put it on them.

Kareem Hunt couldn't have said it any better. the steeler fan who choked out the pregnant girl would agree with you as well..

There is a significant section of the stiller fan base that acts like the Hoopie fan base

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/steelers-fan-captured-choking-pregnant-woman-at-game-report-says

There is also a portion of the Pitt fan base that chooses this forum to antogonize Steeler fans (which generally overlap largely with Pitt fans). So it’s antagonizing your own people.

I think that is worse than what Hoopies and Nitters do on these forums. I loathe that more than anything I read here.
