Whos to say it wasn't a Hoopie? They like the Steelers for the most part here.
There is also a portion of the Pitt fan base that chooses this forum to antogonize Steeler fans (which generally overlap largely with Pitt fans). So it’s antagonizing your own people.
What he was saying though is if you remove alcohol then it never gets to that point. Sure you can remove the guy who choked the pregnant lady, but she already got choked. Remove the fans throwing frozen bottles, but people already got hit in the head. Remove the alcohol, none of that happens to begin with.
Safety only matters though when money isn’t being compromised. I mean it won’t completely solve the problem because people will still tailgate outside before the games. But I just don’t think enforcing rules is really gonna scare people, especially drunk people that probably only have a handful of brain cells to begin with.
Taking it beyond just being thrown out of a stadium, a fan was killed at a dodgers-giants baseball game. Pretty sure the fan who killed the other fan knows murder lands you in jail. Ok you get punished great, still didn’t prevent the incident from happening.
I’m not pretending to know the answer of what to do. I just don’t think trying to scare rowdy drunk people with reprocussions is very effective at preventing these incidents.
Because it's not really common. I've been to about 60 Steelers games and only witnessed 3 fights between fans and one of those fights was in Baltimore. So 2 fights in about 50+ Steelers home games that I've witnessed in person. This is so true, and I know pittsburgh fans often don’t like to hear it.
The Steelers win at home a lot. When a game unfolds like it did against the Chargers, the spoiled fans cant handle it and start taking it out on each other and the opposing fan base. Wait until they go through a stretch of losing.Because it's not really common. I've been to about 60 Steelers games and only witnessed 3 fights between fans and one of those fights was in Baltimore. I've been to losses and never saw fights. I think its an exaggeration to act like it's really common or to think it doesn't happen elsewhere. The people that push this, just hate the Steelers or the NFL in general. Personally, I think Heinz Field is very welcoming to visitor fans in general. Its because Steelers win at home a lot. When a game unfolds like it did against the Chargers, the spoiled fans cant handle it and start taking it out on each other and the opposing fan base. Wait until they go through a stretch of losing.

There was 3 last week that we know if, probably more. Not the end of the world but to say it’s not common is naive.Because it's not really common. That Ravens game is probably the more normal experience. and these A-holes fighting, I doubt they are even fighting about the game itself. it's usually something stupid, like you stepped on my shoe, or looked at my ugly girlfriend. LOL.I guess I was more referring to the way they lost. I was at the Ravens game early this ear and it was very calm. Part of it may have been because the Steelers were losing most of the game and didn't blow a huge lead. It too was a night game.
At a Steeler game? You are out of your mind. Pitt? Yeah. We are too welcoming.I think Heinz Field is very welcoming to visitor fans in general.
That's your experience, mine is nothing like that. My experience is pretty calm and friendly environment 90% of the time. There was 3 last week that we know if, probably more. Not the end of the world but to say it’s not common is naive.
I’ve been to plenty and have seen plenty. Hell, I’ve been in a couple. All you need to do is leave the kids at home, please for the love of god leave the pregnant wife at home, know your gonna see some drunken boorish behavior from adults and if you are ok with it, then so be it.
It is a sport where people just run into each other. I mean, look at the gsme in its basic element. We drink beer and scream for our guys to hurt their guys. Why is anyone surprised when they see barbaric behavior at a footbsll game.
Well there are videos all over the internet that have similar experiences as me.That's your experience, mine is nothing like that. My experience is pretty calm and friendly environment 90% of the time.
Really, I don't notice it ever, I usually make a point of hanging out with and talking to visiting fans, and like I said, I have almost never seen any fights. Not that they aren't happening, maybe on the other side of the stadium or something, I just don't notice it much.At a Steeler game? You are out of your mind. Pitt? Yeah. We are too welcoming.
For a Steeler game, you have an opposing teams jersey on, you are in for a very long day. We are top 5 in bad behavior to opposing fans. Not raider bad, we won’t kill you but you are probably going to get into some sort of fight. And we don’t care if you are a man, or pregnant woman.
Pitt79, You are a lone pilgrim in unholy land.Really, I don't notice it ever, I usually make a point of hanging out with and talking to visiting fans, and like I said, I have almost never seen any fights. I didn't say it never happens, then again, nobody posts videos of hanging out conversing with visitor fans so you think that doesn't happen.Well there are videos all over the internet that have similar experiences as me.
Whatever. maybe I'm lucky and go when nothing much is going on.Pitt79, You are a lone pilgrim in unholy land.
I’ve been to a few ravens games in my younger days wearing a Steeler jersey. It’s an experience. Not fearful but you keep your eyes open. That’s why I recommend if you do this, bring a couple buddies.Whatever. maybe I'm lucky and go when nothing much is going on.
You ban or take a lot of stuff in an attempt to prevent bad things from happening including injury or death but that's not how the world works!
I live in Baltimore, I went to 6 of the first 7 Ravens vs. Steelers games between '96-'02, never had a problem, wore Steelers gear every time, experienced some trash talk and saw one fight. Once after Steelers beat the Ravens, some dude said, at least our baseball team doesn't suck, so I yelled, "Baseball sucks! and so does Cal Ripken!" Best line ever in 1998 or so. I almost caused a fight, but it didn't get out of hand, LOL! GREAT TIMES! For the record, I've never been in a fight at any sporting event.I’ve been to a few ravens games in my younger days wearing a Steeler jersey. It’s an experience. Not fearful but you keep your eyes open. That’s why I recommend if you do this, bring a couple buddies.
Still can’t beliece that dude brought his pregnant wife with a charger jersey on, to a night Steeler game. What in the hell was he thinking.
Back at that time, I think it was 97-98 they had just won the American League East. The Orioles suck
I always got a kick out of these two guys. That would actually be a cool documentary. Get a few guys, each with a hidden camera and have them go to every nfl stadium, wearing the opposing team jersey. Have them tailgate a bit at each game. Document it all.
I’d watch that.
There's another one that wears a bird cage on his head, he cut a hole in the bottom and his head is inside the cage, not sure how he keeps it standing up?I always got a kick out of these two guys.

Why would you come to that conclusion??I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that at least one Stiller fan ends up in intensive care this Sunday.
I went to the first Monday night game at Heinz fieldI’ve been to about 10 games at Heinz Field and have never seen a fight. Yelling, we’ll sure. But not anything physical.
Went to 3 Steeler road games in the last few years. Baltimore you could feel the evil in the stadium, but didn’t see any fights. New England had a lot of banter, but mostly good natured. Chicago we were in the club level with 50% Steeler fans so no issues

It's amazing, they have nut job fans like this and they are leaving town? Of course America has no soul and everything is based ONLY on money, but it is a shame. Why would you come to that conclusion??
Imagine having a shot and beer with one of these two?
I wonder if she takes you home from the bar does she take her Raiders Horns off?
Depending on what she's doing she could poke your eye out or get one of those horns stuck where they don't belong?
Maybe you get two for the price of one which was one of my specialties before I met Mrs Buffett!
I only drink 8-10 beers before going in and I think most people don't drink that much, that's why it's NOT about families, it's for adults that want to get hammered. Interesting though, I've seen 3 fights over 30 years at over 60 games and you saw 5 at one game.I went to the first Monday night game at Heinz field
I saw 5 fights on the way into the stadium.
We were in our prime college drinking days- and we may have been the most sober people in our section.

I don’t go to games to sit back and watch and enjoy the game. I don’t go there to sit in my seat and relax with friends or family. I go to games to be a part of the game, to do my part in creating as much noise as humanly possible...whether it be yelling, clapping, slamming my hands or feet off the seats. I have no problem with fans yelling and saying profanity etc. We’re adults, fet over yourself...also your children hear it out of your mouth, on tv and at school, they’ll be fine.
Physical violance is dumb at an event, but if the violance is brought to you....as my mum always said, you don’t sit back and take a whoopin, you put it on them.
The only difference between hoopies and yinzers is the state on their driver license. That's because so many Stiller fans are also hoopies. And I'd say it's a majority of them. That's why I refuse to be around them if I can at all avoid it. And I've never been to a Stillers game and never will go to one. I was offered club seats by the company I work for last year with free food and booze and turned them down. I don't want to be around that garbage.
Yeah but you live in the Cit-tee!!!The only difference between hoopies and yinzers is the state on their driver license.
Folks need to understand this.
Watch the Stiller jerseys in public away from the stadium and any day of the week including churches and no restaurants.
It’s a distinction without a difference.
