Yes the Irish were better but not that much. A lot of good things on offense and yes the defense is still week but give them time remember don't learn over nite. The refs were terrible as the Irish d- backs should have been called at least five times for holding the defenders but the sun is shining on the horizon how we close recruiting is the key.

Counter-observation. They were a lot better. They ran the ball with ease, threw the ball with ease, stuffed out run game but for Peterman taking off a couple of times, and physically pushed us all over the field. They were up 42-17 with 5 minutes left. That's an ass whipping. The good news is we never quit playing and finished the game, and made it look like more of a contest than it actually was. That's the Narduzzi factor, and it's why I think we can and should expect big things as long as he stays with us for several years. We will get better and compete with these kinds of teams as long as we can bring in the kinds of players he needs to do things the way he wants to do them. If you listened to his presser last week, he let a few things slip that you don't typically hear from these guys in public statements, and one of them was that we need to have more quickness and athleticism in the front 7. He knows what we need personnel wise.

The ACC Refs are very bad in all ACC Games, but you are right, ND just bigger, faster and depth, and pushed Pitt around and their Runners were hard to bring down. No excuses, Pitt has to recruit bigger, faster and better talent and coach it up!

There are 4 CFB Programs that have the resources to have 3,000 Recruits in a Pipeline from 8th to 12th Grades that are invited to their Summer Recruiting Coaching Clinic Camps, as well as hold High School Coaching Clinics as many as 700 Coaches per year!

They are Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Penn State in our region and they often have Rosters full of additional Walk-Ons that are 4th and 5th year Role Players they can afford to cover on Insurance, Meals, Uniforms, etc etc.

This is the challenge that Pitt, NW, MSU, WVU, UMD, Rutgers, UVA, and many other schools programs face against these Top 15 Resources Programs!

It is and never was a level playing field and the Higher Revenue Producing Programs have advantages, but in the games, 4 to 6 plays, by 2 to 3 players can decide most games.

Notre Dame is a really good team. They're better than us. But if the refs even threw flags on half the plays that there should have been, it's a much closer game at the least.
