1. It is impressive what good coaching can do for a defense. Mostly the same players as last year but this team flys to the football and has bad intentions when they get there.
2. Jarrett is a rock in the middle and he is making it nearly impossible to run inside on Pitt.
3. Galambos made some nice plays, but was exposed in the passing game. He just isn't quick enough to fulfill his coverage responsibilities.
4. Whitehead continues to develop. I realize he needs to learn to play safety 1st, but I was thinking during the game last night that having him play a couple series on offense may have really generated a spark. He's a difference maker and I'd like to see him as much as possible.
5. In case anyone didn't notice Tyler Boyd is really good. 10 catches for 138 and a TD. We need to enjoy this year because he will be making paychecks next year.
6. I was very happy to see someone other than 23 catch some passes and especially Ford. I want to see more of that going forward. I think we need better distribution to receivers to continue improving as a team. Last night was a start.
7. I knew James Connor is good, but didn't realize just how good until last night. Without him in there we are average at best running the football. The run game better improve in conference play.
8. I thought Peterman played a good game overall and I was very impressed with the game tying drive in the 4th. Especially the 4th and 15 laser to Holtz. That took some balls. The 1st pick I can live with, but you cannot turn the ball over in the endzone like that. Throw it away, tuck and run or take the sack and its a tie game. I thought he made some strides in the second half and learned from his mistakes. I can see him improving every week and he can be a very good QB for Pitt.
9. I don't believe the Iowa RB got into the endzone on their last TD, but there was no camera angle showing his knee touching the ground.
10. Avonte Maddox is one tough SOB!
11. I cannot wait to see Rori Blair, Tyrique Jarrett and Dewayne Hendrix on the defensive line together. I almost feel bad for opposing offenses.
12. Hindsight is 50/50
Hail to Pitt!!!
