1. When Pitt wins the Coastal, it's a big deal. I know the competition was lighter than expected, but I don't care. Miami, UNC, VT, and maybe even GT have inherit advantages over us, be it recruiting base, financial support, funding, atmosphere, etc. I repeat: When Pitt wins the Coastal, it's a big deal.
2. Narduzzi now has two divisional championships under his belt in basically three years... with two completely different offensive approaches. Hey, his defensive scheme has some major flaws, and his game day coaching makes me pull my werewolf hair out at times. But he's a damn good coach. It's not only about the things we see. There is so much more that goes into a season than the 12+ games we actually witness. I'm not the type of person who screams "Lifetime Extension!" out of pure emotion, but I am happy that he's our coach for the foreseeable future.
3. We're really missing those three receivers. From a skills perspective and a depth perspective. I have a pretty good vantage point at the games, and guys not named Addison just aren't getting open too often. I imagine guys are completely gassed, also. I don't think Mack is going to return, but Barden and/or Stovall would be huge additions.
4. The Heisman is the most annoying award in sports. Whether it's stad-padding, benefitting from playing on a good team, or whatever else... It reminds me of a bunch of high schoolers gossipping about the homecoming queen. Yeah, Kenny isn't going to win it now (most likely), but give me a special season over a statistical beauty contest.
5. We need to have more faith in our ability to run the ball. Particularly on first down. And Hammond needs more touches. He gets under the pad level, and he moves the pile.
6. In retrospect, I'm glad Armstrong played. That should serve as a wakeup call for Wake Forest, if we play them.
7. That linebacker room is going to look awful thin after this season. If Bright doesn't return, we may be looking to the portal.
8. We need more from our defensive linemen, other than 8 and 87. Guys like Hayes, Morgan, etc. really need to put in the work this off-season.
9. Virginia really shot itself in the foot. That snap, that PI, that offsides, the poor special teams play, letting 99 throw that pass.... But you know, I'm not offering any apologies for it. It's a razor thin line between winning and losing, and little things matter. Goodness knows we've been on the wrong side of that line enough.
10. I keep hearing about not resting guys for Syracuse. But will we ever have a better chance to win the ACC? I don't think this has to be an either-or scenario. We should be able to rest a few guys next week AND win the game. That team has checked out, and there are going to be 20,000 people there.
11. It's great to be relevant. It's made watching the other games more enjoyable, too. I really appreciate the efforts of our guys this season. Think about it... We haven't been ran off the field this season even once. How often does that happen?
12. As if we didn't know it already, this season just goes to show that it's an offensive game now. You have to be able to light up the scoreboard in modern football. It's what turns national heads. And offenses are just so hard to stop now. There's a term for stout defenses with no offense to accompany it. I think they call it... Penn State.
