The continuous experimenting with new ways to spark the run game is actually hurting more than it’s helping.
As this season has moved past the 6th game, it seems each week brings a new wrinkle to a run game that hasn’t developed A personality as of yet, and at this rate may never do so.

Running the football is mentality, it’s not a scheme. You either line up and knock the man across from you off the ball by putting a hat on a hat, big on big...or you finesse them, zone block & trap.
After 6 games it’s pretty clear we’re not a Big on Big knock the other team off the ball unit. Our biggest failures at running the ball occur out of heavy formations ,where we bring in an extra tackle And put him at tight end In a heavy set. Almost every-time we go with heavy personnel, we get crushed.

We’re finesse run team. We need to run out of spread formations that use speed sweep motion & run pass options. We have to use our athleticism up front, not our size and power...we’re not Wisconsin, we’re the old Denver Broncos.
Stop adding new personnel groupings and new plays (especially all the counters) and settle in on running the ball without a fullback, out of a 3 receiver formations. We need to get the defense flowing East & west, sideline to sideline in order to run the ball, because we’re not knocking anyone backwards.

Recruit some nasty hardnose offensive lineman who will fight our defensive linemen in practice. I’m sure having such a superior defensive line has affected our offensive line psychologically, as I’m sure they get crushed in practice every day, and have lost their confidence. A nasty attitude gets developed in practice by battling your teammates everyday, lining up your 1’s against 1’s and competing.
