facemask penalty tells you someone was holding! Except for the fact that the play went for a TD, I found that to be a bit comical. We all know there is holding on every play to some extent, but not sure I've ever seen a whole group of lineman stand there while everyone else goes to the endzone for an EP.

Pitt would be wise to splice together a film showing a series of blown calls during the game and send it to the league with a note reading "The Eye in the sky doesn't lie. Next time, we call everyone out so don't let there be a next time".

Since I was at the game I didn't get to see the replay to see if there was holding or not. But at the time I was telling my son there must have been holding because the NC O-line stayed down field. That's why the facemask penalty surprised me. Then when the refs called facemask, their o-line celebrated like they were expecting another call.

Happens multiple times in every game played at every level of football in every state in the country. Watch any college pro or HS game and watch any pass or outside run play--and you will see holding on the edge. Sometimes it's more blatant than others but it's always there.

Officials aren't perfect, in fact they're often pretty weak. Sometimes the calls they blowi affect the outcome of games. Coaches know this and also know you have to play through all that. As Narsuzzi said, we had plenty of chances to make plays that were there for the taking and control our own destiny and we missed on them.

This incessant bitching on this board every week about the officiating is pathetic and its getting old. The officiating hasn't cost us a single game, not one. We have lost two and lost em both because the other team made certain plays and we missed some. End of story.

I struggle to find people who say the refs have cost us a game.

There are missed calls every game, but multiple blatant missed calls every game is a problem; and it's not just against is.

While I don't think the ACC refs are out to get us, I do think they are terrible, which is a problem.

You are operating under the assumption that holding is called anymore. Improbably, we have been on the right side of more offensive pass interference calls (which is never, ever called) than we have holding calls, which I believe is zero for us, over the last 3 weeks. Imagine you could get some long odds on that one.

The funny thing is that you'd think with all the bitching on this board about how the officials are screwing us by not calling holding on our opponents that we'd be getting called for holding a ton. In fact we are not getting called for holding very much at all either. It is pretty clear to anyone with a brain that the refs, for whatever reason, are not emphasizing calling holding on offensive linemen this season. If it isn't blatant, they aren't calling it. On either team. But some people are so focused on every slight to Pitt, either real or imaginary, that they can't grasp the concept.

Every time a call goes against us the refs are out to screw us. Every time a call goes in our favor, well, all the calls are supposed to go in our favor so no sense commenting on that.

Biz got called on one that stopped our momentum. Caprara got tackled in front of the ref and no call, and there was a block in the back that was clear and the refs actually picked up the flag

Here's my problem. They did not cost us the game, no. So is that supposed to be some sign of improvement from the officials? Well, they didn't cost us the game so why complain about it? Because they were beyond awful on Thursday. We may or may not have won, but that's irrelevant. These guys were just pathetic, and it goes on in every single ACC game.

That's one. How many more times did we get called for holding on Thursday night? Do you think that we only actually held on one play, or do you think that we were getting the same benefit of the lax flags that North Carolina was getting?

Oh, that's right, we are Pitt. Our guys never hold, so that one time they called us was an obvious attempt to screw us. On the other hand the other guys hold on every play, and if the refs weren't trying to screw us they'd call it on every play.

Not sure if this was directed at me as OP. Don't think we've been cheated in any way shape or form. I just thought it was funny to watch everyone else on the field move to the endzone EXCEPT the NC lineman. Then when they realized they were not getting called it was like Really Well all right!!
