I posted this last week, so I figured I'd do something this week, too. Here are the (unofficial) personnel gorupings Pitt used on offense in the Iowa game.
Keep in mind, these are very unofficial. There's a lot going on during a game, and while I've spent years honing a method for tracking personnel, I might write down the wrong jersey number on occasion. For the most part, I think these are accurate.
Here's what I saw from Pitt's personnel groupings:
3 WR/1 TE/1 RB - 20 snaps
2 WR/2 TE/1 RB - 20 snaps
2 WR/1 TE/1 FB/1 RB - 12 snaps
1 WR/2 TE/1 FB/1 RB - 4 snaps
1 WR/3 TE/1 RB - 1 snap
(That adds up to 57 snaps; Pitt is on record with 58 snaps, so I missed one somewhere)
A few notes/thoughts:
- 20 is a lot of snaps for the 3-WR sets, but 13 of those 20 came on the drives at the end of the first half and the end of the fourth quarter.
- The formations with 2 TE's include JP Holtz (obviously; he played every snap) and either Jaymar Parrish or Scott Orndoff. By my notes, Orndoff played 14 snaps and Parrish played 11.
