And according to the story, his initial run was 4.6 or higher before he started training for pro day with experts.

I have said this over and over throughout the years. If seniors can get so good and so in shape after their senior years, WHY CANT WE SEND OUR UNDERGRADS to get this coaching, or hire whoever it is to be a consultant, or whatever it is. I would rather have had Lewis running a 4.32 for Pitt last year than running a 4.6... right??

Maybe it the level of individual attention he has received. I'd assume some of these guys hire trainers to devote all or at least a large majority of their time in the weeks and months leading up to the combine/pro day.

Not sure of Lewis' status but I'd also assume a lot of these guys are training/preparing full time right now.

1. No one is taking .3 off their 40 times in 3 months. So most likely one of those times is wrong or the first one was timed electronically and the faster one was hand timed.

2. Most of the improvement is from working on things like starts, steps and breathing to optimize their 40 time. While those are great for combine performance they are useless in football. Same with some of the other prep work they do for the combine.

I might get my 10.0 sec 40 down to 8-9 secs? Very nice a faster track to get or refresh my drink at home, at a bar, or a beach bar although running thru sand will add some time!

Point one is the major reason. combine is electronic, handheld times are always faster.

He's not going to be a faster football player by running a proper sprint. He looked fast running down WRs.

I am curious how much faster Ffrench, Weah and Henderson are than Lewis.

If you get the proper coaching you can improve your start and first 15 yards of the sprint. It is possible to improve .1 or .2

"My what fast legs you have grandma" "All the better to chase down receivers I just got burnt by my dear"

Kinda crazy responses... of course you can improve speed, why couldnt you?
You can improve speed, but he didn't improve by .2+ because he got in better shape. Shape *may* have accounted for some of the improvement, but these guys are really training technique for starts and body lean.

The tape is still the tape.

That don't impress me much.

So he's got the legs, and he got the touch(back ... to secure the PSU game)

Don't get me wrong, well I think he 's all right.

But he couldn't stop tiny Ryan Switzer ONE FREAKING TIME the whole night!!!

(Apologies to Mutt Lange)
