How are you guys? I am coming to Pitt for the game on Sat and the Steelers game on Sunday. Could you help with hotels, bars, restaurants and seating? Can you drink in the stadium? Anything info you could give would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!

Before last season only in club but now you can enjoy an adult beverage anywhere you like except I believe the student section.

There are a few hotels right on the North Shore by the Stadiums. Even more downtown across the river. Check out the Fairmont, Renaissance, Kimpton Hotel Monaco, or Omni William Penn....all Downtown.

Many great restaurants in the burgh. The strip district and Lawrenceville are foodie hotspots. I like Cure, Tako, Morcilla...just to name a few. If you are looking for an authentic Pittsburgh experience grab yourself a Primanti Brothers Sandwich for lunch one day.

Unless you have some type of an awards card all the nearby hotels are currently sold out on the North side and downtown.

Thanks for stopping by. I made the trip down to Oklahoma last year and it was a blast. Hospitality was great, and hopefully we can do the same.

I don't need to add too much that hasn't already been posted, but there is a transit system that can take you into the North Side on game days if you're not staying in a hotel nearby. There's a lot of bars and restaurants literally right outside the stadium if you need a place to eat before hand.

It was also just announced a couple days ago that Pitt will be teaming up with a group that helps cater tailgating tents with features such as food and beverages and TV service. Perfect for visiting fans if you want to tailgate and have everything set up for you; don't have to drag anything to the stadium. You can probably reserve something in the weeks leading up to the game and it'll be ready to go.

I truly hope win or lose that Pitt fans are as classy as the Ok State fans. Our base and thoughts on our programs are very similar when talking with all of you. In fact your thoughts on you versus Oklahoma and we and Penn State is very similar. I was out at your place last year and could not have been treated any better. In fact a tailgater near the stadium offered us some beer and food and said he was able to set up his tailgate on Thursday night, with even a TV and it was safe. I told them that at Heinz field if he set it up in the morning it would be found for sale a few hours later . Lol. Again, win or lose I pray we are as classy as they were.

Beer in yellow seats. Beer and mixed drinks in grey seats. You can shoot heroin in black seats.
no heroin please, we are a docile fan base as is, we need uppers, stimulants, not depressants. No drugs that make you do the head nod please, we have an elderly fan base that does that already.. Yeah I know alcohol is technically a depressant but I don't count that as a drug..

On an unrelated note, I was in ok city awhile back for business and made it a point to do something cultural. well what better than to sightsee, check out the OK city bombing memorial. So I put it in the rental car gps (No gps on phone yet) and sure enough it drops me off in downtown. I see nothing that looks like a memorial. so I ask about 10 people, I kid you not, 10 people. All races involved, men, women, young and old, white, black, maybe an Asian in there too just to keep it fair. Not one person knew what the hell I was talking about, not one person heard of the Ok city bombing. I was so disgusted I said screw it, went to their little tourist area by some man made canal and got drunk at a toby keith bar.. That's what I get for trying to better myself..

Seriously, I had an almost identical experience when I was there for the women's bball tournament in the spring of 2009. NOBODY knew what I was talking about when I was trying to find where the bombing was. We walked around for about two hours and gave up.

Unreal, I did the same thing. I was so sick of bars that I said to myself, quit being a loser and do something productive. Walked around that whole damn city for hours before giving up and doing the bar scene..

I did go back a year later, found it and checked it out. It is a beautiful memorial btw and the little bar area that I was talking about, by the canal, is pretty cool as well. the memorial is more like a memorial park though, I think I was looking for like a building or something so it easy to miss..

I was just in town over by Heinz field yesterday after doing a walkthrough of my kid's palatial new digs at South Oakland at Pitt. . Had duck haluski with a fried egg on top at a bar called the Foundry...what the hell else do you need, I say. As far as my hotel preference...the springlhillle suites on the south side right next to the steelers/panthers training facility. Take a five minute uber to catch the boat to the game. After the game and back the hotel you can party it up on the southside or cross the river from the hotel and visit Pitt;s campus.

If you are having trouble finding a closer place to stay you can always stay south of downtown and ride the "T" right to the stadium (light rail system, subway downtown). Just check out the routes of the "T" and find a place to stay close to a station.

There is not a bad seat in the place. The sun does face the away side of the field if that is a concern. If you can, stay downtown or on the North Shore. The city is very walkable or the T should be able to get you to the major spots that you'd be interested in checking out.

The hotels near the stadium will fill up because of the Steeler game but the downtown ones are walkable and the T that was referenced goes from the downtown side of the river right to the stadium.

The restaurants and bars around the stadium are okay for pregame. Southern Tier brewery has a place there. Jerome Bettis 36 Grille also. But it is largely built around gameday stuff. You'll get better food on the downtown side along Penn Avenue. There is Nine on Nine, Butcher & Rye, Meat & Potatoes, Tako, Sharp Edge, Proper Brick Oven and others. They can be tough to get a table if it is after a game.

You might also consider an Airbnb in Lawrenceville or the Ace or Indigo in Shadyside / East Liberty. Both areas have good eats and more hip bars. Either neighborhood will have plenty going on. You can also catch a bus or uber and be downtown in 15 minutes.

BTW Don't count on a lightening storm to give your team time to rest and re-game plan in the 4th quarter :)

Enjoy the stay and should be a good game!

Seriously, to the OK State fan, if you haven't been to Pittsburgh, a really cool and unique city. Great restaurants, cool bars, lots of cool neighborhoods, but physically (hills and rivers) maybe the most unique city in America. Heinz Field for visitors, especially college stadiums will be a great experience because it is a pro stadium and a great setting.

I see Priceline does have some hotel rooms downtown and on the Southside also, but price is at a premium compared to other weekends in the 'Burgh.
