I am a LONG time Pitt guy. The first game I saw in person was in 1969, when Dave Havern quarterbacked Pitt from a 34-0 Halftime deficit to WVU to a 35-34 win at old Pitt Stadium. Had Season tix all through the 70 through mid 80s glory years, sat through some terrific ball games with terrific memories of wins over PSU, Notre Dame, so many others, as well as some disappointments. . Have followed Pitt totally since. I am a true H2P guy.

Now, in my 70th year, I'm loving it as much as ever. We've got a great team, coached by a great, stand up guy who has his head on right, priorities are right...led by a very able AD, both who seem like they like being here and plan to stick around a while. Class kids, wearing the best looking unis in all of sports, who represent us all very well. I think there is lots to look forward to in the future.

I don't expect it to be void of all 'politics'. It's a fact of life. As to why Whipple left? Who knows. I've heard it was family issues, and I have no reason to doubt that. The guy is 64. I get it. Besides, it's none of my damn business. I hope Kenny plays the bowl game, I'm an old school guy who believes he should, he owes his teammates and those who've had his back that, but it's his call. I does not speak well for the sports environment money has created if he doesn't, but I can see his point. If he plays, I'll be rooting hard for Pitt. If he doesn't play, I'll be rooting hard for Pitt. He came back for his 5th year, when others didn't. The young man has plenty going for him. Either way, he's a class kid and I wish him well.

One more thing, over 50 years of watching Pitt, and all sports, it's obvious that sports reporters are like most media folks, on a level with dope addicts and pickpockets. I get their job is to get folks talking, to gin up controversy. I know that's the name of the game, but, they like to create controversy and crisis where there isn't any. I get it. You have Ron Cook, Poni, whatever his name is, Dan Patrick trying to con some young guy into answering controversial questions, I get it. This Paul Zeise mailbag stuff is typical. Just throw some crap out there and see if some of it sticks. Can Coach Duz be hard to work for? Most successful folks can be. They like results, which is why they get to the point where they are successful. What I like about Duz is that his priorities are straight. I am not at all worried about him being immoral, or devious, or cheating, and I think his standards and holding the kids to it will benefit them for a lifetime. But, he works hard and wants the job done. This is life, kiddos. Get used to it, or get used to flipping burgers at McDonalds for a career. I don't know if he and Whipple got along. it lasted 3 years, so it must have. If they did clash, well, suck it up cupcake, you are going to have folks you clash with. That, too is life.

BTW, not you, Chris Peak! Your show and this board is great! Keep up the great work!
