I remember a handful of years ago Ole Miss having a Top 5 recruiting class and thinking "that's random". I guess this answers my question back then.
I'm sorry but I just do not see the problem with a coach making sure his players have companions to accompany them to the opera, symphony or an art gallery opening. Some of these lads are Freshmen and may not have the appropriate society connections in place yet. That is the service that escorts provide is it not?

they are not on scholarship and therefore, much like a phenomenal over the top meal plan and better housing scholarship athletes have that they do not, are not entitled to have escorts provided to attend the various cotillions and other seasonal social gatherings their stature as athletes requires. Such escorts are needed in southern society just as much as cleats are needed for a grass field in football.
HUGE dollars = big risk. The money being paid to head coaches on the college level is unbelievable. All these P5 coaches make so much more than the chancellor of the school. Huge pressure to win, huge salaries for head coaches = the higher chance they push the envelope to win.
The schools are making money and coaches are making money, don't look for big changes anytime soon.
There is so much more cheating going on that we don't know. But, its the way the "game" is being played right now. $$$$ make people do some crazy things.

Yea that's always the confusing part. Can't imagine any player or coach of one of those programs that dominate the university have too much difficulty getting girls. And I know, escorts are different from girlfriends as far as what is wanted and the effort/ grief / sensitivity / b.s./ call it what you want that has to be expended to get it ... But I think that's exponentially less needed for guys who are the gods of the campus vs. What we regular schlubs have to invest to get some tail...
It definitely is a lesser program and he is a pa guy. But the SEC shells out big bucks for coaches. I think ole miss having interest in franklin is what makes most sense though, probably more than him actually potentially taking the job.
They have their interim coach though so I'd think they won't be hiring until after this season.
Mississippi was recruiting too well. Everyone knew something was up. I suspect TCU is next on the clock.
Nah, they recruit pretty well but nowhere near the level Mississippi did under Freeze. I prefer to believe that Patterson does a good job of picking and choosing the Texas kids that don't go to UT.
I remember when Houston Nutt interviewed for the UNLV job a couple years ago and did a spot on local radio. His bitterness toward Ole Miss was obvious, not surprised years later he did everything he could to bring them down.
