I was really impressed with the play of Ohio’s QB, Safety and a couple of the linebackers. Their offensive and defensive lines were bigger and more effective than I expected. O’Shann Allison is a tough runner and their WR’s (while undersized) were quick and strong. As a team, I thought Ohio demonstrated tremendous focus and effort. Absolutely incredible that Rourke looked that good under pressure while battling a severe case of Strep throat.

The last five recruiting classes at Ohio U have been ranked:
2015 - 92
2016 - 115
2017 - 103
2018 - 121
2019 - 103

This tells me they do a great job w/ scheme, S&C and player development. We complain about our recruiting rankings but look at teams like Iowa St., Washington St, Syracuse, Boise St. or UCF that have much lower ranked classes but overachieve on the field.

I had hoped that 5 years into the HCPN era we’d be further along but there’s still a lot of football to be played. The errors we saw on Saturday looked more focus related than talent related. I suspect if we had more guys “locking in” like Jimmy, Twyman, Johnson, Jackson and Alexandre we’d be a much better team. Until that happens the performances are going to remain inconsistent.
