I think all of us fancy ourselves as 'smart fans' and more knowledgeable than the average fan. And, that's fine. But, recruits - high school kids - look at results, regardless of how those results are reached. As a *result*, it's pretty important to simply win games; not 'play hard and lose' or 'beat good teams', but rather simply win. And, regardless of how we've gotten to 7 wins, the fact is we've gotten to 7 wins. We've really only been outclassed by one team (ND) and beaten one team that we probably shouldn't have (Duke). But, we're 7 and 3...and that sounds pretty good.
The only drawback, however, it that that works both ways. Penn State, for example, hasn't beaten shit and they're 7-3. They can point to their record, too.
I guess my point is this: Pitt doesn't have to apologize for who they've beat and who they have lost to. They're 7 and 3 and, if they take care of business in two games they should have a really good chance to win, they'll be 9-3 and going to a decent bowl game.
You give this staff - and specifically this head coach - that to recruit off of? Yeah, I like our chances.
