Amid an otherwise lackluster performance, there were a few bright spots for Pitt’s offense in Saturday’s 28-7 season-opening win over Villanova at Heinz Field.

Jester Weah recorded his first reception and his first career touchdown. Quadree Henderson showed flashes of translating his special teams success to offense. And Scott Orndoff did something had only been done once in the last six years at Pitt.

He caught five passes.

Dating back to 2010, a Pitt tight end has caught at least five passes in a game only once. That was JP Holtz, who caught five passes for 48 yards in the 2013 win over Notre Dame at Heinz Field.

Orndoff hit that number on Saturday, his first game after spending the last three seasons as Holtz’s backup.
