Finally got around to seeing The Hunt For The Wilderpeople. Outstanding. One of my favorite 2016 releases that I've seen.

Stand outs for me in 2016 were The Nice Guys, The Witch, The Lobster, Arrival, Zootopia, Jungle Book, Neon Demon, Sing Street, Green Room, Kubo and the Two String, OJ: Made In America, Lo and Behold, 13th and Midnight Special. Manchester by the Sea was great too but I didn't like it as much as aforementioned. Same applies to Pete's Dragon, The BFG, La La Land and Hell or High Water.

Still gotta get on Train To Busan, Elle, Florence Foster Jenkins, Handmaiden, Age Of Shadows, Nocturnal Animals, A Monster Calls, Moonlight, Hidden Figures, Paterson, Toni Eardmann, Jackie, Silence, Tickled, The Eyes Of My Mother and Raw (Grave). Just caught I Am Not A Serial Killer which was... Good enough. I liked it better than the Autopsy Of Jane Doe at least.

I am in same boat. I literally read the OP and haven't even heard of these movies. The only movie I saw in the last 4 years that didn't have talking animals in it was the new star wars that just came out and the only reason I saw that was because my little man likes star wars..

Just figured I'd throw out there for the other movie fiends. Totally get folks not having the time or interest to dive in head first and seek out so many movies... Especially those with youngsters running around!

Zootopia by far best movie I saw last year.

Midnight special I appreciated the risk the writing and director took even if it had a someone uneven ending.

I did enjoy green room to a certain degree and the one where Daniel Radcliff played the FBI undercover agent

Think this is called Imperium and I have yet to see that one too.

I'm a big Jeff Nichols fan. He has a great relationship with Michael Shannon (kind of a muse), who I think is one of the best character actors out there right now. Mud, Take Shelter and Midnight Special were all very good.

Another one I need to see... Jeff Nichols' Loving.

Absolutely hated The Nice Guys. Tried way too hard in my opinion.

You never weighed in. What were your thoughts? Not a typical Star Wars movie huh?

I didn't hate it, but I didn't really like it either. The premise was great and the casting held such promise. But the end product didn't live up to my expectations (or to the excellent trailers which clearly had the best material from the film).

Watched Moonlight last night. Moved to top of my 2016 movie list. Best movie I have seen in a while. Surprisingly I liked Patriots Day also. No where close to Moonlight but a decent movie none the less.

Manchester By-The -Sea. About 2 1/2 hours of great cinematography, but nothing else. Characters one dimensional, less than compelling story line. If there was something there, I missed it.

Johnny,

Thanks for posting the 2016 films you like best.

Just curious: Which 2 or 3 from your list are your favorite?

They filmed that movie on a dime. All the actors shared one trailer and it was shot very quickly.
